The Kelly's all sat together and cried during the home going of Dario Thompson. RJ thought he could maintain his composure but seeing his mans laid in a casket lifeless made him sick.
The pastor preached about senseless violence and how a good time could go bad really fast. The pastor explained how it was only April and this was the eighteenth funeral he preached for for a murder victim under 18 in the city of Detroit. Rio would've been 18 the month of May. RJ remembered the plays he set for him and Rio for the day and shook his head crying more; chest burning; and out of breath.
RJ saw Tommy standing by the door and just turned as his tears flowed. Instead of a suit RJ had on his shirt remembering Rio. It was a picture of Rio in his football uniform doing what he loved which was playing football. Something else that bonded him and RJ was their love for football.
"Dad he really gone." RJ said crying in his fathers shoulders. Looking at Rios mothers broken face and hearing her scream ate him alive.
RJ drove from the burial of Rio. As the pastor preached RJ was slightly enlightened. He vowed to always keep Rio's memory alive and to honor him positively. He just tried to remember not how Rio died and so soon but the good things. He still couldn't grasp that it was his best friend in a casket going six feet under. RJ pulled up to the house and was greeted by Lauryn.
"How was the service?"
RJ started crying "i miss ma brother and this shit gone hurt forever." "But Rio was a good ass person he touched a lot of people. It was Coo to see how many people showed up for him."
It weighed heavy on RJ's heart to mend things with Tommy. Seeing his best friend in a casket opened his heart and eyes. RJ loved Tommy to death and would die for his brother. He realized life was too short for petty nonsense.
"Ryann's in the shower but once she gets out I was thinking maybe we could all just like...hang
. I leave tomorrow and I just want y'all to have fun." "I'm down." "Good." Lauryn said smiling. They all hung out that night going to the movies, going go cart racing and laughing having a good time. It didn't feel Like Lauryn was Lauryn it felt like he was hanging with one of his friends. He wished Tommy was there but that situation stung him too.
Lauryn was silly and chill as hell. He watched her speed by in her go cart and was in awe by her. After all the pain, it was a decent day with his twin and Lauryn. During the movie he sat by her and both of their hearts fluttered. Lauryn couldn't deny that she liked RJ.
Later in the day Ryann went to chill with JaRon and there Lauryn and RJ were left together. "Can I drive your truck?" Lauryn asked. "Hell no." RJ said laughing. "Please? Let's go to my favorite spot but it'll be a surprise if I drive." RJ was reluctant. "I said it nicely now give me your keys negro."
RJ laughed. Lauryn was sweet but slightly hood and feisty. He gave her the keys and they drove. "Where we going?" "Surprise fool don't you listen?" "I thought we became cool and you still gotta slick mouth." "The sky is still blue baby." RJ smirked. "Oh I'm yo baby now?" "Don't fuck it up."
They pulled up at a park on the west side.
"Um.... This shit don't look safe." "It is come on." "It's just a park." "Yo ass only use to hanging with girls in the bedroom that's why." "Yeah but a park in the middle of the hood ain't really my ideal place either." "Shut up."Lauryn led him to the swings. She secretly just wanted to interact with RJ alone. She needed to before she left because she was going to miss him. She didn't know if RJ still just wanted to fuck her but she didn't care she just wanted him around. 'He ain't getting no ass though either way.' She thought. When Rio died she saw another side of RJ that was sad but ready for a change.
