Chapter 4.

Riley's P.O.V
I got to the venue in time but couldn't find my mother anywhere. I waited thirty minutes but decided she wasn't coming and called Grant. "Dude tell my dad to tell my mom that she can't make arrangements with me and not keep to them, I'm going home." I said. "O-okay sure..." He said, sounding weird, like he was scared or something.

"Grant are you okay?" I asked. "M-me? I-I'm fine t-thanks..." He answered, still sounding terrified. "Alright then." I said meekly as I cut the phone.

That was weird.

I got into my car and started the engine when a hand just reached for me. I flinched to the side and screamed. "What the fuck!" I screamed as I panted. "Leave Axel, now." Lisa's voice rang in my ear. "L-Lisa?" I stuttered. "No, the Grim Reaper yes it's Lisa." She said. "What are you doing, you nearly gave me a heart attack." I said as I held my chest dramatically.

"You know if you wanted a ride you could've just called, I gave you my number at the wedding." I said. She laughed halfheartedly. "You need to get your ass away from Axel." She said. "What are you talking about?" I asked. "You know you're a real idiot for believing you dead-beat mother would want to try again with you. You didn't come here to meet her, you came here so I could talk to you about what we are now." She said jumping to the front seat.

"G-Grant?" I questioned as I looked at my phone. "Oh yes Grant, it was a do or die situation for him really, he had no real choice and now you won't. I've had my eye on him since I moved to this forsaken town, I wanted us to start over but you just had to go on and encourage him to be gay." She continued.

"You can't make someone gay, or make them straight, it doesn't work like that Lisa. I understand that-" I tried to speak but she cut me off. "Fine then, you want this to get ugly, it can fucking get ugly. But you better watch your back." She said before getting out the car.

I swallowed hard and as soon as I couldn't see her I drove home really fast. I got in the apartment and Axel was on the couch watching tv. "Oh Riley, how'd it go?" He asked. "Lisa is fucking insane." I said. He raised an eyebrow. "Listen she may have abandoned Nori but she's still her mother." Axel said sitting up.

"No not that I mean she's crazy, she said she moved here before we met and that she was watching you a-and my mom she..." I tried to speak but I couldn't for some reason. Axel got up and walked toward me with sympathy in his eyes."Listen Riley I understand you don't like her but making stories up about her isn't going to do anything, you already have me." He said holding my shoulders.

"A-Axel I'm being serious, she threatened to kill Grant if he didn't help her...she ambushed me in my car before I came back home." I said. "Riley she's my child's mother, don't make this any more difficult than it already is." He said as he switched off the tv.

"Wha-I'm not lying!" I shouted. "Shh, you'll wake the girls and I never said you were lying Riley. I've known her longer than I have you, she wouldn't do anything like that." He said. "Well you haven't known her long enough to know she's obsessed with you." I said as I followed him to the bedroom.

He got into bed as I tried to talk about her but he wouldn't believe me. I huffed in annoyance before getting into bed. He tried to cuddle with me but I wasn't budging. I was mad with him for not believing me about Lisa, just because she's the mother of his child. That has nothing to do with this but he won't listen to me.

I woke up early in the morning to find that Axel had gone. I checked my phone to see he wrote a message. It read,
I didn't think you'd be able to get up after yesterday so I took the girls to school, they'll be out of school at half past twelve so please pick them up. I've gone to the family house hope to see you in a better mood when you come...love you Baby Boy.

I put my phone away and sighed. I got out of bed and took a shower before changing into my casual clothes. I grabbed my phone and my keys before stepping into the kitchen.

"Leave Axel whilst you can still walk Riley." Lisa's voice boomed throughout the room. I turned around to see her standing by the tv with her arms crossed. "Riley make this easier for the both of us and just give Axel to me, for all you know he doesn't even love you and only married you for some sick little reason." She said.

"Lisa, Axel is taken okay you can't make me leave him and you can't make him straight. Just because you two had a child together doesn't mean you'll get back together. He said you were just a test and you know this. He was confused and young, he made a mistake." I said and she didn't look pleased about my statement.

"I am not a mistake!" She screamed as she walked to me. I realized she had a small pocket knife in her hands and I panicked. "L-Lisa, let's not get hasty here..." I said putting my arms up in defense. "I am going to kill you then take Axel, so he can be who he's meant to be with." She growled before lunging at me.

I moved out the way and ran to the living room. There was a beer bottle on the table and I smashed it against the wall before putting up for defense. "Lisa we don't have to do this, you don't have to do this." I said. "Oh but I do, I love Axel more than anyone in the world he should be with me!" She screamed and as she did Axel walked in.
