My body was stretched across the couch with my legs propped up on my moms lap. A warm wash cloth laid on top my forehead and I was wrapped up in a blanket. The living room was quiet and the sound of rain hit against the window. My mom was taking care of me the way she used to, when our dad was around. I smiled at the thought then my mom looked over at me.
"What are you smiling about?" She questioned and sat down her magazine.
"Just thinking."
The smile soon wiped off my face when I heard the door slam open. I took my legs off my mom and sat up as Carter drug himself into the living room. He gave us a disgusted look. His fists clenched together at his side. I noticed a black mark on his left cheek and his chest heavily rose up and down. A small line of blood dripped down in front of his nose.
"Carter is everything ok?" I asked and got up from the couch.
He let out a breath of air. "Why don't you ask your boyfriend." His voice filled with disgust. My mind began to circle about what he just said. What would Harry have to do with him? He's only seen him once and it didn't go well. Then it clicked. What if what Harry told me not to worry about involved Carter. I stopped just inches in front of him.
"What do you mean?" My voice was quiet.
Carter just looked at me. Then someone knocked on the door. My eyes instantly widened and I brushed past Carter. He followed behind me to the door. I gripped the knob and slowly pulled it open. There was Harry, standing there with his curls slightly watered down. My breathing began to pick up, rapidly.
"What are you doing here-"
"Alex, I'm so so sorry-"
"What the hell are you doing here?" Carter cut me off, yelling at Harry. His voice echoed throughout the house. I looked back to Carter and his face filled with anger. His eyes peered straight into Harry's. My mom walked in behind Carter and she stopped. It was only seconds and Carter pushed past me and stood straight into Harry's face. His jaw clenched tighter and Harry's eyes turned dark.
"You caused this." Carters voice was filled with anger.
Harry didn't say anything. Instead he punched his fist straight into Carter's face. I couldn't believe what I just saw. My breathing got heavier, my heart was beating out of my chest. "Harry!" I yelled and then Carter pushed Harry out the door. I quickly slipped on my shoes and ran out the door to where Carter held Harry up against my car. Then carter punched Harry straight into the stomach, causing him to yell in pain.
"Stop!" I yelled and ran up behind Carter, trying to pull him away. He ignored me and then his fist hit Harry straight in the face. Red liquid started to escape from Harry's nose. I kept pulling on to Carters shirt trying to get him to stop but he didn't. He repeatedly hit Harry in the face.
"Boys stop!" My mom yelled as she ran outside.
Harry slid down the side of my car and on to the ground. Carter got on top of him, smashing his fist again and again in to Harry's face. Carters fist was covered with red staines and black marks appeared on to Harry's cheeks. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. All the memories of my dad came back to my mind. Tears escaped my eyes and I bent down to the ground.
"Carter you're going to kill him! Stop!" I yelled and I looked Harry straight in the eyes. He let out a gasp of breath as Carter took one last hit to his stomach. Rain droplets trailed down my cheeks. My mom pulled Carter off top of him and I gave him a look of disgust. I quickly got on top of Harry and rubbed away the blood that laid on top of cheeks.
"H-Harry." I whispered as I wiped away some water droplets. Instant bruises formed around his eyes and blood dripped below his lips. I rubbed my hand through his hair and lightly brushed my thumb against his cheek. I laid my head against his chest, careful not to hurt him.
His eyes closed, and then I spoke words I have not said in years. "I love you." I softly whispered.
Green eyes slowly opened back up. Full of fear and pain. He cupped my chin and looked straight into my eyes as they filled with tears. Rain was now pouring down onto us. "You remember that fantasy you told me about?" His voice filled with pain.
"Yes."
He didn't reply and his plump lips pushed against mine. His hand moved through my hair and the other laid on my waist. My shirt started to get damp and his soft finger tips pressed into my skin. Butterflies swarmed throughout my stomach. I broke the kiss as I saw flashed of red and blue lights shine on my car. Harry pushed back a strand of hair and his lips formed into a smile. Then he said it. Three little words that changed everything.
"I love you too."
