Chapter 1

"Gemma!" I exclaimed as she hurled a spoonful of flour at me. "We're not-" another hurl of chocolate his time "-to play around-" she dumped a handful of flour on the floor too "-when working at the restaurant. What will Gerald even thi- okay, bish, it's on!"

I grabbed a handful of rice grains, cupping my hands together tightly so they would seep out of the gap between my fingertips, charged over to her and dumped them in her precious dyed green hair.

She threw some peas at me, luckily I ducked out of sight.

She grabbed some ketchup and aimed it at me, as I grimaced.

"Ew, Gem!"

She was about to squirt some more ketchup out when a deep voice boomed, "I would advise you not to do that," and she fearfully turned around to see out boss Gerald standing there with a stern expression.

"Oh, um, sorry," she squeaked.

"Ms. Worthing, I suggest you come and have a talk to me about lowering your intended payments you have caused this kitchen after you clean yourself up."

"B-but I need the money!" She exclaimed. When he shook his head, she pursed her lips and said, "yes sir," meekfully as she bowed her head shamefully.

"Now- Mr. Irwin, as for you- clean yourself up too, please," he said briskly.

"Wait!" I blurted out as he turned to leave.

"Yes?" He said in a bemused voice, sounding like Severus Snape.

"It- It was my fault, we were just messing around. You can take my payments off for a week to repair any damage caused to the kitchen," I say, ignoring Gemma's alarmed yet relieved looks.

'Dont,' she mouthed.

I shrugged slightly.

"Alright, then, Mr. Irwin. I will not take off your full payments for beong courageous and owning up, however it will have to do," he said, before leaving.

I didn't notice Gemma creeping up to me until she smacked my arm.

"Ow! What was that for?"

"You needed the money more than I did!"

"So, you're hitting me because I helped you?" I exclaim, incredously, shaking my head.

"I'm hitting you to say thank you," she mumbles.

"C'mon, Gem. Let's get this cleaned up," I sigh, putting my arm around her.

"Okay," she sniffs, before getting a mop out.

Exhaustedly, I climb into bed as soon as I get to the apartment Michael and I share.

I don't bother changing, just pass out in my skinny jeans and AC/DC shirt.

Tomorrow, I have to spend another day at Queensland High School. It's a dumb name, because Queensland is far away from Australia, but oh well. QHS was hard to get into on a scholorship, and I don't intend on letting that hard work slip away.
