Best Friend's Boyfriend
Chapter 11Luke was an annoying brat, as always, being top of the social pyramid means you need to be selfish mostly.
But sometimes, he was actually quite nice and sincere and shy and I'm using too many ands in a sentence but then he turns into a jerk when he sees Ben.
I wasn't too pleased to tutor him today but Mikey texted me a pleeeeeeeease so I agreed reluctantly.
I had half an hour before I could actually go, so I decided to have a walk.
I walked to the park, admiring the beauty of nature.
I saw a grey squirrel run past and laughed. There was a little pond and fountain in the park where a little girl was splashing around.
Little kids are so cute.
After a while, I got bored and decided to leave.
I went over to the Hemmings household.
Jack opened the door again. "Hey. Here for Ben or Luke?" He grins. "Of course, you give your attention to the younger siblings because Jack means nothing," he sniffs fakely.
"Ben and Luke can also be jerks. I think the sweet side in both of them comes from the elder brother," I grin back, stepping in.
"Ben's not in. Mum called me to ask me to have a look at the passenger comments on our new plane but I had to study so she asked Ben."
"That's good, because I'm teaching Luke today." I respond. I hesitate. "Don't you think it's a bit odd your mum never asks Luke to do anything but groceries?"
"Luke doesn't buy groceries for us. He buys it for his cooking class. We have au pairs to do that stuff. And I suppose it's because he's the youngest and mother doesn't think he's quite responsible." Jack shrugs it off.
Horribly strict Mum and unknowing brothers. Poor Luke.
I enter his large room. "Hey."
"Hi, Ashton," he closes the door behind me.
"Yeah, um, yesterday, Michael suggested I exchange numbers with you so I don't have to keep texting him. Do you mind?"
"Nope," I throw him my phone. He does the same, taking a selfie as a contact. "Kay."
"Thanks."
"You cook?" I ask.
He laughs. "Yeah, I take classes. Jack told you?"
"Yep. You're going to have to cook me something one day," I tease. "And you also have to play guitar."
He rolls his eyes. "Should I propose too?" He jokes.
"Yeah, by the river, in the moonlight," I snort. "As if."
"Play guitar for me, pleeeeeeeeeease," I drawl.
