Best Friend's Boyfriend
Chapter 9

"No!"

"Kilł him, he's on your right!"

"I can't kiłl him, we're racing!"

"Knock him out so then my car can race with yours to find out the true Mario Kart king!" Luke declares.

"I'm the King!"

"No you're not!"

I triumphantly rush my car against the finish line first, smirking as I flop down on his bed. We had been playing for an hour.

"How did you-" Luke gapes.

"Learn not to doubt me," I smirk.

"Okay, okay, no need to get-"

I sit up, holding my palm up. "Talk to the hand."

Luke doesn't respond. After a minute, two strong arms pin me against the bed.

Luke hovers over me, his hands pinning my wrists down. "Excuse me?"

I smirk. "I said, talk to the hand."

He shifts so he's basically straddling me. His face is just inches from mine.

I kick him lightly. When he freezes, I take advantage of the opportunity and push him off.

My heartbeat was thumping because it looked like he was going to kiss me. I just...panicked.

"Let's play Wrestling III because I'll beat you in that like I did in every game," I say, laughing nervously as I avoid eye contact.

I can feel Luke's gaze burning into my back but I ignore it.

He reluctantly starts playing and the tension soon lifts as we team up.

Luke and I go down to the kitchen, playing hand cricket.

Ben is sitting there lazily munching on Vegemite and Nutella on toast.

"Heads or Tails?" I ask Luke.

"Tails."

We both shake our hands thrice before putting an array of fingers. I put four fingers and Luke puts three.

"Heads, Tails, Heads, Tails, Heads, Tails, Heads!"

Luke sighs. "Batting or bowling?"

"Bowling," I choose. "So I can know how much to win from."

Luke scores seven points before both me and him put up a thumb indicating six points, cancelling his turn further.

"That's a shît game." Ben says.

Luke and I continue playing. "You're a shît person," Luke hums.

"Really? I suppose you wouldn't mind me answering your phone, then. Ooh, it's Michael calling," Ben grins smugly.

Luke stops and jumps on Ben, snatching the phone.
