"IT'S CHRISTMAS!"

Ryan's hyped up because it's Christmas. So am I, but I'm not at the point where I have to run around and scream that it's Christmas.

I go upstairs and check on Mom and Dad. They're still sleeping. I think I'll let them sleep, they're better off sleeping in the morning.

I head downstairs, and look through the kitchen window to see how much snow there is...

...and if I were to go outside right now, the snow would reach my waist.

I'm not going to tell Mom and Dad, they're asleep, and besides, they don't need to know.

Ryan joins me at the window, and looks outside. He seems amazed by how much snow there is outside.

"Woah! There's so much snow!" Ryan exclaims. "Can we go play in the snow?"

"No," I say firmly. "There's too much snow."

I head over to the front door to see how much snow there is from there...and our whole porch is covered in a very thick blanket of snow. Oh well, it looks like we're stuck inside. Not that I mind.

I check my phone, and it's blowing up with a bunch of messages from Norma, Natasha, Riley, Chloe, and my other classmates saying things like, "MERRY CHRISTMAS!", "HAVE AN AWESOME CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!", and "WHAT DID YOU GET FOR CHRISTMAS?"

Mom's also sent me an email with a picture of my school's newsletter, and there were pictures of the grade 8 band performing at the Holiday Sing Along. And there was also a picture of me playing the drums, and another picture of me in the percussion section, playing the orchestra bells.

Mom and Dad soon come downstairs, still looking tired.

"There's so much snow outside," Dad yawns.

"Yeah, but we don't have to shovel it, we're not going to go outside today or tomorrow," I point out.

"PRESENTS!" Ryan shouts. "Can we open presents?"

"After breakfast, Ryan," Mom reminds him.

"Aww," groans Ryan. "I really wanna open my presents!"

"You have to wait if you want to open your presents," sighs Mom.

Mom makes breakfast, with Dad, Ryan, and I chipping in to help. Once we eat, we gather around the Christmas tree to open presents, when the phone rings.

Mom runs over to answer it, and is at the phone for a long time.

"Can we open presents now?" Ryan whines.

"Good things come to those who wait," Dad tells him.

Mom puts the phone away, and then rushes over to us.

"You can open your presents now," Mom says to Ryan.

"YIPPEE!!!" Ryan yells in glee, and grabs the nearest present that's his and starts ripping off the wrapping paper loudly.

Mom whispers to us, and says, "We got a mission."

"On Christmas?" I groan. "They can't do that!"

"Missions are unexpected," Dad reminds me, and I groan again. No. I don't want a mission on Christmas, but I have no choice...
