"So, I told my parents about the "competition" we're supposed to go to." I told Louis over the phone, "They're interested."

"Cool," he replied, "Sophie's mom also said yes, and Max is going to. I haven't heard from Alina, though."

"When is the competition?" I asked.

"Right after finals week, that weekend."

I groaned, "Why?"

"Because our two months are almost up, we have to solve this case as soon as possible, and who knows how many clues are left after this one."

"Okay, fine. I have to go, bye." I hung up the phone and flopped onto my bed.

I really wasn't happy about going to Oregon. I mean, it was cool and all, but why? It was for some thing I didn't really want to be a part of anyway. Why do I have to do this?

***Alina***

I spent all week trying to convince my parents of my scholarly abilities, but it took a while to get them to consent to flying me to Oregon just for some competition.

In the end, my mom decided she would go with me, and that was that.

Cool though, Oregon, Portland to be precise. If we had time, we would probably end up going to that famous donut shop, and maybe the World's Smallest Park. Penny would like that.

Oh, wait...

***Max***

I was honestly quite surprised that my parents agreed to the "competition" at all. I suppose they were just happy that I'm finally applying myself.

I'm really excited to go to Oregon, though. Alina mentioned a famous donut shop. Maybe they have lollipops too.

***Sophie***

My parents didn't really believe me when I told them there was something in Oregon that I wanted to compete in. They thought it was a ploy to get to see my new favorite musical, Hamilton.

Everyone was surprised that I was interested in something that didn't begin with the letter S. My sister even started calling it Shamilton, just to make fun of me.

***Louis***

My mom was at first reluctant to agree to anything out-of-state.

My mother worries about me, because she thinks I'm a loner. I usually am, but this year I have friends, so she's proud of me.
