Slowly but surely, Yamato disengaged his lips. Too embarrassed to look at him, I looked down.  Yamato wrapped his arms around my back and peered into my face.

“Pouty,” he said softly, “look at me,”

Still in shock from the kisses, I couldn’t answer and just shook my head. Even if I couldn’t see him, I could feel his hot gaze.

“I wouldn’t do this if I wasn’t being sincere,” he continued, “everything I said to you is true,”

He continued to look at me, waiting for me to answer. After a while, he let go and I finally looked up.

            “Kogami,” I said quietly.

“I’m gonna go shower,” he shook his head, “I don’t know if I can control myself if I stay near you right now,”

Walking briskly into the bathroom, I was left all alone, still sitting on the kitchen counter. Yamato loved me. When he said it in front of Yuri, he looked so serious I almost believed him… but after that kiss, well kisses, now I knew that he was really telling the truth. For the first time, I admitted to myself that I was in love with Yamato as well. I wanted him as he wanted me. But now that we knew how we felt about each other would we be able to live together like this?

The next morning, I lay spread out on the bed, looking dazed at the ceiling. I couldn’t sleep at all that night and I couldn’t believe that it was morning already. Yamato’s words and the passionate kisses we shared kept swirling in my mind and there was no way I could sleep like that. I felt sluggish and my mind was a blur and I knew that the best way to really keep me from going back to sleep was to take a shower. Pulling myself up, I slid off the bed, grabbed a set of clothes, and walked into the bathroom. Even as I took off my clothes, all I could think about was Yamato. I thought it would be uncomfortable to see him, but it looked like he had gone out. There wasn’t any school that day so he didn’t have to work. Maybe he went to get the paper… As I thought to myself, I continued to undress.

Just as I had finished undressing and had started the water, I heard the front door open.

“Whew,” I heard Yamato’s voice, “I haven’t jobbed 10 kilometers in a long time, I’m whipped,” I could hear him walking around the apartment, “Sorry, Pouty. I’ll make breakfast right away. Are you still sleeping?”

Because I had left the bedroom door closed, I guess Yamato figured I was still in there. By the time I had realized that I heard his footsteps right outside the bathroom door.

“I guess I’ll take a quick shower first,”

What?! A quick shower? No, I was in here, he couldn’t. Looking around, I picked up a towel and wrapped it around myself quickly.

“Yamato, don’t come in!” I yelled.

“What?” he sounded confused, but it was too late. He opened the door and the only thing I was wearing was a towel. We stared at each other for what seemed like an eternity, his eyes wide from seeing me half naked, until he blushed and shook his head, “Sorry!”

With nowhere to hide, I turned my back towards him.

“D-don’t look!” now I was blushing too, “Don’t!”

“I’m not looking! Well, I did, but I didn’t get a good look!”

            “Just close the door!”
