“Hey Pouty,” Yamato called the next morning, “breakfast in ready,”

“There isn’t a lot of laundry today,” I walked into the dining area from the bathroom, “did you want me to wash anything else?”

It had been a few days since I had been sick and we had been spending those days acting as if nothing had happened. Yamato hadn’t spoken about his mother since the run in with his father and I hadn’t spoken about my past at all since that day as well. I figured he was still processing everything in his mind, it was quite a bit of information to go through, and if that was the case there was nothing I could say that would help. Though I went through a situation similar to his, he needed to come to his own conclusions on this one. Deep down though, I didn’t think he should hate the principal.

I don’t think there is a parent in the world who doesn’t love his child, those were the words the principal had told me and I didn’t think he was lying when he said it.

Yamato only knew what the principal was like in the work environment; maybe if he could see how he really was he’d see the same person I saw at city hall. I began to wonder if there was a way to get the both of them to see each other… if we bumped into each other in the neighborhood, we would only be able to chit chat and they needed a place where they could have a heart to heart conversation.

And then it hit me.

Saturday that week, Yamato had classes until noon so I had invited him to the park after work.

“Why are we coming all the way out here?” he complained.

“Why not?” I shrugged, trying to make it seem like I wasn’t up to something.

The principal had told me before Yamato interrupted us that he used to meet his love at a park on the hill just as the sun was setting with her favorite flowers. If I found the right park and timed it right, maybe I could get them to talk.

“If you want to go on a date, pick a better location,” he shook his head, “This is an ordinary park,”

I was just getting ready to shoot back a sarcastic remark when he stopped dead in his tracks. Looking ahead, I saw that he was gazing at a figure in the distance with surprise.

            “No way…” he said.

Following his gaze, I fixed in on the figure. It was the principal carrying a bouquet of flowers. Seeing us, he walked up to us.

“Oh, hello,” he greeted us, “Are you taking a stroll? It seems out of the way from your home,”

“We didn’t come here for a walk,” I shook my head slowly.

            “Oh?”

“We came thinking we’d meet you here,”

“To see me?” he smiled a bit.

“Is this what you were planning, Lorien?” Yamato asked me, glaring at me a bit.

“You come to this park every week, right?” I ignored him, keeping my focus on the principal.

            “Um…” he looked a bit uncomfortable, “Y-yes, I do,”

I knew that he was hesitant to answer something so personal because Yamato was his subordinate, but we needed this to happen.

“Do you come here around this time?”
