"Dreams..."
I looked up at the sky as I repeat the same words over and over again. If what the GM said was true, then I could never imagine anything more cruel than that.
If I want to reach the top, I have to hold on to my strongest dreams. The dream that is forever etched in my heart. Fortunately I have such dreams. But that dream is too strong that it hurts to hold on to it.
The stronger I hold on to it, believing it, more despair I would feel and more would my heart be damaged by it...
In short, the dream that I have is a dream that was beyond human reach. Only a miracle would make the dream come true.
...and the GM wants me to hold on to that kind of dream.
"Heh. This is not funny at all."
I bitterly laugh as the calm breeze blew pass me on this very meadow itself. I looked over at the entire landscape of this very floor I was on. Nine months had already passed since the beginning and we are already on the 49th floor. Almost reaching the halfway point.
To be honest, I was surprised that everything had gone by so fast. One by one everyone had discovered what their true prowess is. In the end, everything began with who you truly are. The dreams that the GM meant was something that reflects who we truly are. Dreams that what our heart truly desires.
To make it more complicated, one must completed a certain trials to actually truly unlock their potential. Either through a quest or doing specific skills... whatever it is, it is only set for that one person.
While I never really much cared what kind of dreams everyone has and what they have achieved with it, there was one person whose ability that I would forever remember.
Ansar's [Imperial Blade].
An ability that maximizes the user's potential. It also comes with its own set of skills that can really hurt. I don't know what kind of dreams he has and what he had went through to unlock it but this shows just how limitless he is.
...again, I am outmatched.
But of course, I could simply reach that same level if I had tried to reach out to myself and overcome whatever trials I should face to unlock my potential.. but..
"There's no way I'm going to do that. If it means facing that... then I rather not."
"What are you doing here sulking? It's not like you, leader."
A jolly voice caught my attention and as I turn my head around, the wild and messy hair immediately informs of me on who I am facing with. Whatever train of thought that I had been on was immediately gone when I felt someone else being around.
"Please. Me, sulking? The world's gonna end if I do that.. Azim."
"What's wrong with that? I rather have this world end and the maybe we might just get out."
"And waste this chance of being in a fantasy world? Hah! As if."
"You can have your chance but don't drag others into it. You're making our tragedy look like a dream come true to you."
The usual cheerfulness in his voice was immediately replaced with a serious tone and his eyes narrowed into me. I could not help but feel somewhat intimidated by him. Be it a joke or what, there are some things that I should not have cross. Especially if it's with Azim.
Even a saint has its boiling point.
The sound of something ruffling caught my attention and when I looked over at the source, I saw Azim holding onto a bag of cookies and chewing onto one of the cookies.
