Waiting Game

* Here it goes another fast update! This is a little one but I hope you like it!

"Hi" she said with a low tone of voice.

"Hi. I'm surprised. What.... What are you doing here? How did you get into?"
He was too confused to be able to think properly.

"You gave me your keys, and I think I own you some explanations." She took a deep breath.

"First of all, I do love you, I truly do. And this feeling is killing me."

"So what's the problem? It doesn't need to kill you because I love you too."

"The thing is: I still love Philip, and Derek, he is my husband. We have a whole life together, we have a story. He is my family."

"Meredith, I am sorry but I can't understand it. You told me a lot of things before, reasons why your marriage wasn't working. And now this?" He sounded very disappointed.

"He went to Richard's today and left me things that made me realize that. He knows me in a way that nobody does. He knows what I need and I don't even need to ask him."

"Still. I can know you like that if you left me. We can have a story, in reality we do have a story. And we started it in that bar and I think we should continue it."
He couldn't look her in the eyes anymore.

"Derek, you have to understand! I can't give up on my marriage like that. And you know it."  She raised her voice and stopped.

Both were speechless. Meredith had made her decision and it wouldn't be easy for them.
They kept looking at each other and didn't even need to words.
Tears started to fall. First on her face and then on his.

"Meredith, I can't." He broke the silence.

"I can't either Derek." She wiped the tears out. "But  you don't deserve me, you deserve better. Oh so much better."

"You are what I want, what I need. I don't care if I don't deserve you."

"You know I tried." She looked down.

"You tried? Stop. You came here one night, we said we love each other and we had sex. I'm sorry but I don't consider it 'trying'."

"I did, Derek! I wanted us but I can do this. Not right now. I need to give him a less chance and if it doesn't work, then I can move on."

"I'm not gonna stay here and wait for you. I want to be your second option or your back."

"I'm not asking you to wait for me forever but at least give me some time."

"Give you some time?! How do you expect me to stop believe in my life and just wait for a possibility to have you? It doesn't make any sense Meredith. Let's face it." He stopped talking and his eyes filled up with tears.

"We are over."
