It was the next day and after a brief talk about if we were going back to the city we finally came to the decision to go to the safe haven even though Andre hated the idea of it and thought it was just a death waiting to happen. The rest of us seemed to like the idea and when it came down to it at this moment all I wanted to do was keep people safe which seemed impossible in the situation we were currently in.

The RV got filled with gas and we all got in realizing it would be stupid to take 2 more cars as it seemed like people at the safe haven wouldn't be happy if we started to overcrowd them with our vehicles (if they were there of course). We quickly planned out a map of where we were going and the safest paths to get to the east side without going too near the areas we thought would be highly infected.

I offered to drive which was immediately denied by Will who reminded me that I had hardly any sleep and nobody would trust me to drive because of it. The journey seemed shorter than all of our other trips probably because most of us were just trying to ignore the fact that we were going directly towards where our problems started. Jason was still asleep on the chair next to me which was probably best as when we went past whatever was left of the farm most of us hung our heads in shame remembering what happened.

The city was ahead of us, the streets quiet and empty like all of the problems had been taken away, we took several short-cuts trying to work out where all of the dead had gone. It seemed impossible that nobody was here, only the remains. Everyone was on edge waiting for a sudden horde of the undead to take up the street and flood everyone away.

We made it to about half way through the city before the RV stopped, it wasn't the fuel but the engine had completely broken with a thick cloud of black smoke filling the air in front of us.

"It's completely fucked" Daniel shouted at the top of his voice "How the fuck are we meant to get to the safe haven now?"

"Well we won't make it at all with you shouting this much" Joe said calmly "I suggest that we walk, we've got food and water"

Even though it sounded stupid I agreed with Joe because at this point there was no going back and if we stayed in the open for too long who knows what will happen. We made our way back towards the road when I heard something from behind me, one of the undead finally turned up and he didn't look harmed at all. I picked the knife out of my pocket and started to walk towards it, I made it about a meter away from it when a loud gunshot went off from behind me.

I turned to see Will stood there with a pistol in his hand and smoke coming out of his pistol, he seemed confused that all of our group were staring at him.

"What?" He questioned "Safer than stabbing them"

"Why the fuck did you shoot, they can still hear idiot" I shouted.

just as he just realized what he had done the street behind us started to fill with the dead, When I describe it as filled that means that it was nearly not visible that the road was ahead of us. the road next to it was starting to fill up too and there was only one way out, they were coming quick; Faster than I'd ever seen them almost running at us.

We were trapped, we couldn't start to run because they would catch us too quickly. One of us had to stay and fight them off...
