the dead were crowding the street ahead of us, the only way out seemed to be to our left and they were coming quick, Will looked at me as we realized that one of us had to stay behind. Personally I thought Will should stay behind because he shot first and attracted all of the undead but I couldn't. Then I started to think about everyone else, there was only minutes before we could get out. Daniel could stay but he's not very good with guns and Andre had become a friend of mine who I didn't want to risk the life of.
It didn't take me long that I was the only person I wanted to take this challenge, I didn't want to risk anyone else. After quickly telling everyone that I would stay back with a argument demanding that I need to keep everyone together it was finally time for me to take down as many as I could. Andre passed his suppressed M4 over to me telling me that I needed it more than him. Lily took Jason away so they could start moving in the right direction, Just when I was about to take out the nearest ones Laura came up to me which I expected to just be her telling me I didn't have to do this but what I got was a kiss.
"don't get yourself killed" She said slowly as she started to walk back to the others "We need you"
I started to shoot, everything around me suddenly disappeared leaving it just me and them. I got a large majority of them before I had to reload and quickly ran down another street leaving me to be alone, It wasn't long before I realized that there was reason for me to be left behind and they were probably in no danger at all.
As I was walking through the rubble and streets that I once knew it started to come back to me, all the places started to spring to my mind like a map, I had an idea at that moment to go towards the church that I went to months before. for what I knew then they were all gone and when we looked through their stuff there wasn't nearly as much as what was there when I went. The roads were coming back to me as I noticed a tank in the middle of a road, obviously unattended being crowded by the undead with a horse being eaten besides it.
I took no notice of it even though in my head I knew there could be somebody there or at least something that could help me get back to the others but what I needed was to get to that church and get whatever was left.
The streets weren't empty at all, for a few trips I thought that I wouldn't make it through but as I usually did I made it to the area I wanted to be. In front of me was the building we had been hiding at when it all started, the hotel was still there with everything left untouched. I walked into the room we were staying at to find only a framed picture on the floor which Zoe must have dropped as we rushed out. It was of her as well, I almost cried to think of her but put it into the small backpack on my back to try and stay strong. So I could help the others.
A couple of streets down lead me to the hospital where I broke my arm and in front of me was the one that I killed rotting on the floor with flies slowly taking away the skin. It made me smile to think that this place had changed so little that something from months ago was still there, taking in everything the world has become. Then in front of me was the church, It hadn't changed a bit and as I predicted before I even started to come here. There was everything inside.
I went towards the door to go in when I heard a sound of a gun. I looked to my left to see one of the undead drop to the floor next to me with a bullet lodged right in between his eyes. I ran into the building hoping to get cover or to get something to help, the shots stopped which made me think he was just trying to help me. I looked round the corner to see him still aiming and he shot which made me suddenly go into a pain and I blacked out.
