"Remind me what's going on again" Miss Mabel said with a hand on her hip.

I passed Deon off to her and began to put my hair up in a ponytail.

"Devin's depressed and needs some fun so I'm taking him out. So I need you to watch Deon"

"Where ya'll goin' that you can't take him? He always goes out with you"

"Somewhere with roller coasters. It won't be fun if you can't go on the big ones"

"Chres know?"

I raised a brow at her.

"What does he need to know for? Nothing's going on"

"Ya'll gettin' awful close..."

"Which is bound to happen when someone is staying in your house for a long time" I chuckled.

Then my face grew serious.

"Miss Mabel, are you accusing me of something?" I said frowning at her.

"No, baby, I trust you. Just be careful is all. A woman has needs and sixteen months of absence can't possibly be the cure"

"I have a vibrator" I countered.

"A vibrator ain't no man"

"I thought you were trying to make sure I don't cheat"

"I am. I just want you to understand why I might be worried"

"No need, Miss Mabel. I'm faithful"

She nodded.

"I'll go play with Deon or something" she said before leaving.

After I finished getting ready, I went to Devin's room and knocked on the door. He didn't come. I knocked again and still no answer.

"Devin?"

I opened the door and saw him on the bed with his face in the pillow but he was dressed to leave down to his shoes.

"Devin, c'mon" I said nudging him.

"I don't wanna go anymore" he mumbled.

"I know you don't but I'm not asking you. C'mon now, Dev, today's gonna be so much fun. I have it all planned out and everything. You won't even be thinking about Sierra after this"

"Doubt it"

"Well you won't know until you get up, will you?"

He moved his head and looked back at me standing in the doorway. I gave him a small smile before he let out an annoyed sigh.

"Fine" he pouted and got up leaving the room.

If I didn't know any better I'd say I was dealing with a child but I decided to let him carry on with his pouting. I knew that I was probably annoying him and ruining his usual flow of things on this day but I can't just carry on with my day knowing that he was miserable. We went out to the car and he got in the passenger's seat while I got in the driver's seat.

"Where we going?" he asked a little bit after I pulled off.

"Not telling" I sung.

He sucked his teeth and looked out of his window.

"Stop being so sour. Like I said yesterday, you'll love it"

He shook his head and turned on the radio I assumed to better occupy his mind. We finally arrived and he observed the atmosphere of bright lights and big machines.

"The fair?" he said unamused. "What are we? Sixteen?"

"Fun" I said pointing a finger at him. "has no age limit"
