I was feeding Deon when I heard a car door from outside. I picked him up and walked to the door. Peering outside the window, I could see Devin approaching the house with two big duffle bags in his hands. I opened the door and he stopped in his tracks rolling his eyes.

"Look, I already know what you're gonna say but Roc asked me for a favor and I'm going to do it" he stated firmly. "And by the way, he told me where his spare key was in case you intend on locking me out"

I shook my head.

"I came out here to let you in" I said matter-of-factly. "And to tell you that I already set up a guest room for you. Upstairs, left hall, first door on the right"

He rose an eyebrow.

"Wow, no attitude today?"

"He told me yesterday basically to cut you a break so I'm doing that" I said in a salty tone.

"Thanks" he said walking closer.

"What's up, Little D?" he said to the baby.

Deon smiled and kicked his feet in response. Devin laughed and walked inside the house. Miss Mabel had just walked out of the kitchen wiping her hands on a towel. She spotted Devin and smiled warmly.

"Hi, sweetie" she beamed.

He returned the smile and dropped his bags walking up to her.

"Hey, Mabel" he said kissing her cheek and hugging her.

I swear I saw this woman blush. But Devin was a good looking guy though. He had a short fade and a baby face. Even the dimples to go with it. I remember Chresanto mentioning to me when I first came here and he was telling me about everybody that Devin "had more bitches than Chris Brown". I highly doubt that but I did get the point.

"Ima go upstairs" he said to us picking his bags back up and heading upstairs.

"I got some food down here for you, darlin'" Miss Mabel called after him.

"Okay, I'll be down after I'm done getting set up" he called back.

I crossed my arms and glared at her. She noticed and put her hands on her hips.

"You betta stop all that staring unless you want those eyes to go rollin' across this here floor"

I ignored her threat.

"What happened to Earnest?" I teased.

She turned her head up.

"Ain't nothin' happened. He just ain't here right now" she said going back into the kitchen.

I followed.

"Mind your boundaries, Miss Mabel" I said sitting on a stool watching her make plates.

Deon still squirmed in my hold. I stood him up on my lap trying to burp him from his feeding a few minutes ago.

"Oh relax, chile, ain't nobody tryin' to get with Devin. He just ain't bad to look at is all" she shrugged.

"Or dream about" she added with a smile.

"Or-"

"Miss Mabel, stop" I giggled.

She laughed too.
