I should've known he was still a jerk...

We arrived at the party. And this was one hell of a party. It was both an outdoor and indoor party. People were everywhere. There were lights of different colours flashing every now and then. The music was super loud. You could hardly hear what people were saying. I was just arriving and there were drunk people already. I mean the party had started an hour ago but some girls were already throwing up due to drinking too much alcohol. Almost every tree was occupied by two possibly drunk teenagers making out.

"Alex! You made it." Leonard came walking from behind Nancy, Jake and I.

"Yeah, but right now I feel like going back home." I said scanning the place.

"No!"Nancy and Leonard both said at the same time. Jake was just quite.

"Look you just got here. Just stick around for a little while." Leonard said.

"I don't know, I..." I was trying to say something but Nancy cut me off.

"You know what she'll stay!" She said giving me a look before smiling back at Leonard.

"Okay fine,if I'm gonna stay at least let me go get myself a drink." I gave up on trying to get them to let me go home.

"I'll come with" Nancy joined me and we left Jake and Leonard there alone. Lord knows what they talked about.

Jake's P.O.V

The girls went to get drinks and I was stuck with Leonard till they decided to come back. You're probably wondering why I don't quite get along with him. Well allow me to explain. Leonard and I used to be close. More like best friends really. Until one day he made it in the basketball team and I didn't. Well that's not exactly what tore us apart. It's the fact that once he was in the team he just changed. He hung out with the team and kind of started forgetting about me. Call me a girl but our friendship was important to me.

As if losing him as a friend wasn't enough. Leonard started picking on me. I wasn't afraid of him no matter what he tried to do to me. But he got his "friends" to do his job of making me miserable. I still wasn't afraid of them but still him and his team made my life at Eastwood High a living hell. Why he was doing this I didn't really know. I later found out it was because, the E. W Beasts, which was the school's basketball team, didn't think Leonard needed to have a person like me as his friend. It was all about status to them. I got annoyed by their silly doings so I decided to stand up for myself and tell them to stop their nonsense. They did but I never got my friend back. My brother from another mother. Over the following year after all the stuff that had happened,he and I just drifted apart. I got mad that he chose the Beasts over me and I guess, well to be honest I don't know why he was mad at me. I wasn't going to tolerate that shit so we stopped talking all together.

"So nice party." I tried making conversation.

"Thanks" he said the word fast and it seemed the word had no meaning.

"You're home alone?" I asked. I remembered that his parents were never really home. Always away on business or whatever.

He stared at me for a long while then answered. "Yeah." He continued with two words. "Business trip" He must've added the words after noticing that I wanted to say something. I was going to ask where his parents where. It got quite for a little while. You see small talk doesn't really work for us guys. If I don't know you I won't try talking to you. But my case with Leonard was different. We knew each other, very well for that matter. There was no point in denying it. Right then I saw MacKenzie getting out of her ride. You can never forget her two sidekicks Chloé and Emilie.
