Kelsey'a P.O.V.
I was warmly greeted by my uncle as I got in and had made me read the rules and regulation before making me start work. He asked me a few question, mostly personal and 'how are you' kinda thing, before he decided that it's time for me to meet my 'partner in crime' as he says.
Just as we got outside of his office, I felt a funny feeling that someone's watching me. And it was easily confirmed as someone caught my attention. He was sitting by the far end with a book on his hand. The moment we locked eyes, he pretended to be reading - or maybe he was, I don't wanna assume.
"Kelsey," he started, snapping at me back into reality. Did I mention the guy's cute? I looked at him for the last time, catching him looking back at me, too, before I turned to face Uncle Simon. Beside him was a brunette girl, beaming at me. She wore round glasses, making her look like a girl version of Harry Potter - without the scar, of course! "This is Samantha. Samantha, Kelsey. She's my niece, so go easy on her."
"Oh, no," I protested, chuckling. "No special treatment. I'm here to work."
"Alright, I'll leave you girls," he said laughing and headed back to his office. Before he closed the door, he said; "work hard."
Then he was gone.
"Just call me Sam," she giggled, starting the conversation.
"Sam," I repeated, smiling. "So, how many are we here?"
"Well," her lips pushed into a thin smile, thinking. "Gemma quit---"
Then I remembered what Ashton said when I told him I'll be working here. Maybe it was her. Ugh, nope, I thought, that's just a gossip. Uncle Simon is quite nice.
"--- long story but you're replacing her so there's the two of us," she continued. I looked around, studying the place. There were just five customers plus the guy. I looked at him once again and I can feel my cheeks heating up as he stares at me. He smiled. "We have two inside baristas who helps us in making drinks. Usually the chill guys when there's not much customers since its us who really does everything. One cleaner and your uncle."
"And where do we start?" I asked, smiling back at him before looking at Sam, who was following my gaze. "Whoopsie."
She smirked, looking at me. "I've noticed him checking you out since you got here. Actually thought you're with him. He got in seconds after you came."
"He's not," I laughed, rolling my eyes.
"He is," she said. "Anyway, here, we are also servers. We can talk to customers though if we get bored. Like if your friends came, you can talk to them. Just be alert and attentive when another customer needs assistance."
"Got it," I nodded.
"Hey!" A voice said from behind me. I looked around and saw a ginger boy smiling widely. "Hello!"
"Oh, Daniel, this is Kelsey," Sam said, introducing me.
"Welcome to the club," he greeted, shaking hands with he. Then he handed me a cup of frappe. "See you around!"
And he left. Weird, I thought.
"You'll get used to him," Sam giggled, obviously catching my expression. "So, all you have to do for today is to familiarized the place and the books because some of the customers love to ask questions. Also, since you have that already, you can go give your first serve."
"Which table?" I asked, getting out of the counter.
"Oh, you know which," she smiled, winking at me. "Feel free to chit chat if he insist."
