chapter 13: Fear

When Amanda woke up Lizzy and Adam were deep in conversion. So much they didn't notice when Amanda woke up. She was still a little groggy so she couldn't hear much but she did catch some words.

"Fear........ Amanda...... another camper..... boy.... Malcome..." only when Amanda stood up was when they noticed she had woken up. "Amanda! You're up that's great." Adam pasted her a plate with a sandwich but she wasn't feeling every hungry.

"How long was I asleep?" Amanda asks as she peaks through the window. It seemed to be in the afternoon, about the same time she thought she fell asleep.

"You've been asleep for a whole day. In fact we are reaching san Francisco in a few minutes." Lizzy handed her, her stuff.

"A whole day! That means that tomorrow another camper will be taken right?" Lizzy and Adam looked at each other. It wasn't good.

"Well.. umm. Another camper was already taken. We iris messaged camp and got Chiron. We guess that Phobos was angry that you past the test and took another camper. He was a son of Athena. Name was Malcome." Adam looked at the ground as if afraid to meet Amanda's eyes. She felt heartbroken. Another camper is going through a living Hades because of her. That's three now. But she was determined to not let another person suffer. She brushed the tears that had fallen and stood a little taller.

"That's it. Phobos isn't taking not one more person. Under my dead body."

Just as she finished the train stopped. They hurried to get off. Once they got off they got a cab to drive them into LA. They think Phobos could be keeping the campers near the entrance of the underworld. You see the entrance into Hades is on the H of the Hollywood sign. In Amanda and Adam's dreams they entered what looked like a cave but before they had to run. Only later did they realize that they were running up a mountain. So they thought perhaps Phobos could be in one of the letters in the Hollywood sign. Before they got there they were all went to a hotel and got a room just to lie down for a while and talk. Once they got to their rooms they sat down on the beds. After a while of silence Adam spoke up. "Amanda... what did Phobos show you? I know it isn't my place but..." Amanda sighed and told them about her father and how she self-harmed for a while. When she brought that up Lizzy looked down and then up and rolled up her sleeve to show her arm. It was covered in scars. Most were old and faded but still noticeable.

"Before I met Amanda I cut for a while. I was getting bullied and at the time didn't know how to handle my depression. But things got better for me. I stopped getting bullied, I found who my father was, and I met people like me." Lizzy gave Amanda a side hug, who had started to tear up. They both looked at Adam, who wouldn't met the girl's eyes. When he looked up he snuffled.

"I'm not crying okay? I just got something in my eye I'm fine!" he said. Which made everyone laugh. Lizzy pulled him into the hug and they all just sat there hugging each other. After a while Adam pulled away. "Okay I guess since we are all talking about this, there is something you guys should know about how I came into camp. I came in with Zoe but there's more to the story that only me and Zoe know about. We both went to the same school. They didn't know each other until the day we were claimed. I had been getting bullied for a while. One of the kids had just started to pick a fight with me. He was at least x2 as big as me but I didn't care. Just as he was about to hit me in the face Zoe pushed through the crowd and pushed us apart. In turn the jerk grabbed her hand and tried to make her kiss him. Which ended with her kicking him where the sun never shins." They all laughed at that part. "That's when my dad claimed me. I guess Zoe already knew about demigods because she tried to explain it to me but I didn't listen I ran to the closes bathroom with the stupid thing on my head and grabbed my pair of earphones. I was sick and tired of being the freak. I put them around my neck and was ready to hang myself. Zoe busted the door open and yanked the earphones away from me. Afterword she explained what I was and that we shouldn't tell my mom but just to tell her that I was be over a friend's house for a couple days I texted my mom. She worked 3 jobs and I knew what questions she would ask but I also knew she would be fine with it. She saved my life." Lizzy and Amanda didn't know what to say, so they didn't say anything and just hugged him. Just then a man came in, he was wearing a white suit.

"sorry, no room service right now." Amanda called out to the man but he didn't listen, which made Amanda get out her dagger, Adam his sword, and Lizzy knocked one of her arrows ready to shoot. When the man saw them he laughed. A laugh that shilled them to their bones. At that point they knew that Phobos had found them. He came closer and closer. As quick as lighting Phobos touched Adam and Amanda's heads as they fell to the ground. Lizzy shoots an arrow but right before it hit Phobos he caught it.

"What have you done to them!! Wake them up NOW!!!" Lizzy yelled.

Phobos looked at Lizzy up and down and laughed once more. "Silly girl. You think you can scare me?" Phobos appeared so that he was inches away from her face. "I. Am. Fear." That's when everything went dark.
