* Valentina *

I walk down the hallway & find myself right in front of the door that says 'Detention' on it, I take a deep breath put my hand on the door knob then turn it. I look straight ahead then walk up to the detention teachers desk, him turned the other way because he was on his laptop. I get his attention then give him my slip, watching him as he quickly reads it.

He puts it in the trash then looks up at me, I give him a innocent smile then he gives me a disgusted look. Geez, take a chill pill mister. "Um, okay Valentina you can go sit right next to skater boy over there with the beanie" & then points to him.

As I walk over I wonder why theirs science tables instead of desks in detention, everybody's sitting in pairs & the guy I'm about to sit by is the only one by himself. I get out of my head for a bit then scope the room, everybody's staring at me or either smiling. A guy just winked at me, gross another jock. But when I look at the skater guy he's grinning at me, not a creepy grin though. A nice, friendly grin.

I sit down next to the skater guy, then turn my face towards him. "Hey, I'm Valentina." Then he turns towards me & nods his head "the names Alec" wait. Did I just hear an accent? I give him a knowing smile, "What a nice accent you have." He chuckles then smiles looking towards me while talking with his suave voice. "Thanks, it's British. I haven't seen you around here before you new too?" I giggle then shake my head, "I've been going here since.." Then my vision gets blurry. Can I get anymore hopeless? My life sucks, not knowing anything from before. I even forgot what grade I was in..

Or.. Oh my gosh I hate this. I can't remember anything anymore. So I just go with my gut. "I've been going here since freshman year, you?" He looks at me, "are you okay? Your eyes are watering." He sounds a little worried, I look back up at him smirking. "Your really kindhearted aren't you?" Then his Adam's apple goes up & down a little, "um noo." I smile with my teeth now "it's okay Alec, your secrets safe with me." Then he smiles back, "thanks Val. Can I tell you something?"

Then I shrug "sure, anything." He smiles showing his teeth now too, & whoa his teeth are perfect. "Your a pretty cool person, someone I would hangout with. How about you text me sometime?" Then we type each other's numbers in our iPhones.

"Here ya go" then I look on my phone & his phone number is very different so you can tell he's not from here. Then I turn the phone around & cool! He has a vans case, I've always wanted one. "Um, Alec can I ask you something?" Than he looks at me & nods "Where exactly are you from?" He tilts his head, "Manchester.. Why?" Then I finally understand so I make an 'o' shape with my mouth.

* The bell rings *

As I'm walking out someone taps on my shoulder but when I look behind me nobody's anywhere near me. So I just shrug it off & face forward again, seeing Alec smiling at me laughing. "Gotcha Valentina!" I shake my head and walk up to him "yeah you got me good. Who do you have next period?" He gives me his schedule & we end up having three classes together.

We were supposed to have Algebra but he was in detention before me at the time. "Hey! We have three classes together!" I say enthusiastically,"sweet, now I'm looking forward for the rest of the school year." I blush trying to look away. "By the way, has anyone ever told you you have the nicest curly locks?" Touching my hair I heat up then look up, "thanks, for once I left it natural." Since my mom said I used to always love straightening my hair.

"Ahem" that takes Alec & I out of our moment. I turn my head & it's the meathead sexy Latino guy that tried to shove his tongue down my throat earlier. Who the hell is this guy? I roll my eyes at him, just great. What does this guy want now? "So you can go and flirt with this creep but you can't even talk or kiss your own boyfriend?" My jaw drops, b-b boyfriend? I would never date him. & if I did before I got in the accident then things are about to change.

Alec is about to say something when I put my arm in front of him showing that I'll take care of this. Then he looks at me and nods, then changes his face into a little softer. But then looks back at the meathead with disgust. "Number one, boyfriend? I don't even know you. So why don't you lay off kay meathead?" His face then shows hurt, coming a little forward. That's when I feel a hand on my shoulder & I look back. It ends up being Alec of course.

He comes where he's now looking down at me, "you serious Val? Your killing me here, I love you." Then he brings his face near my ear, his lips practically brushing by my ear. "Please don't act like we weren't together.. Your mom told me what happened." Then I push him away from me "why can't you just leave me alone!" He knows what happened, just great. I walk away from the crowd that was gathered around us "Valentina don't walk away from me!" Then he holds my arm gripping it tighter, "ow! Your hurting me you jerk!" Then he gives me an evil smirk, what the hell?

That's when Alec starts to come in & he can't stand back anymore,"get your hands off of her mate!" Then the meathead that says he's my boyfriend looks toward Alec, still holding on to me. " & what are you gonna do four eyes? Huh?" Then Alec just stares at him for a moment. "Yeah exactly now get your punk wanna be skater boy behind out of here. Nobody likes you four eyes so why don't you mind your damn business, new kid."

Then Alec charges forward punching him across the nose, I can hear the crack sound of his nose breaking in the process. Then grabs him by the neck & shoves him against the wall. "& what if I'm making it my business? Git." I can't believe Alec, a guy I just met not too long ago is sticking up for me. Talk about respect. As I watch I see blood spill from the meatheads nose. Now smiling at Alec. "You know what man, you can have her. She's a cheating hoe anyways, a waste of my time." I gasp, then my mouth gapes open. I can't believe he called me a hoe. Did I really cheat on him?

As soon as the words spill from his mouth Alec punches him in the stomach twice then shoves him the other way of the hallway. "Listen clear, leave Valentina alone okay! Now get your arse out of here!" I stare at him in awe, my mind is completely blown. So when I see him smiling while walking up to me I run up to him & give him a bear hug. "Even though I haven't known you long, thank you. You'd didn't have to do that for me Alec."

He looks down then pulls away from the hug, hands on my shoulders. "I know I didn't, their just wasn't a way in bloody hell I was gonna let him hurt you like that and get away with it, it's what mates do Val." I smile, blushing. Then walking away, "oh & Alec?"

"Yeah Val?" He raises his eyebrow curiously, "Don't listen to that meathead. I like your nerd glasses." I smile as I compliment him then he smiles back, winking at me "why thanks love. Care to walk with me to lunch?" I nod for him to walk my way as I'm giggling, "let's scat alley cat." Then we walk to lunch together, talking to each other like we've been friends for a lifetime.

Hey, maybe I met a guy that I'll become good friends with. Hah, maybe I can become one of his 'best mates' just maybe.
