I finished the tests gloomily and allowed the docs and scientist to leave to process results. I plopped on my bed and started crying. I found out about Zander a while back from reading multiple minds to finally come to the concluding truth. I needed him to be here with me, but how can I do that if he will not respond to telepathy?
I shot out of bed and ran through the door to Marcus' room. I was halfway to Zander's door when someone grabbed me and pulled me back. I screamed as Marcus tried to keep my pathetic self from reaching the door.
"Woah! Celia, you can't go in there!" He tried to pick me up but I kept struggling. A doc who was near the door ran back to help him hold me back. I let them take me to my room.
When I finally was sitting in my bed I stared absently at the ground. Marcus sat next to me. He pulled me closer to him and let me cry in his shoulder.
"What's the matter? Celia, what is it?" Marcus stroked my hair as I continued to tear up.
The most annoying thing about being a telepath is that I can understand everyone, but no one can understand me. I can simply look at a person and know what's bothering them, but no one else can do that for me.
"I can't help him! I need to look into his eyes to help him, but they won't let me! They said I'll be blind for the rest of my life if I look at his eyes!"
Marcus got very still. "Maybe not."
I looked at him. I caught a flash of his memory.
I saw the world through Marcus' eyes. He was running away from something. He looked behind him and saw the blue body of a monster. His eyes shone with a neon blue light. Next to him was another Marcus.
He saw the eyes through a mirror and Marcus wasn't blinded.
If I could read minds through a mirror, I could save Zander.
"Mirrors," I said. I looked at a small one in the corner of the room. I tried to read Marcus' mind. Is it working?
"Yes, Marcus, you're a genius!"
