We all turned when we heard the door open. Out came two armed guards with shaded helmets that hid their faces. Behind them were two men. I noticed that just out of view was a shadow the size and shape of a person. I mentally alerted Marcus and Jayden about our other visitor.

"Hello, kids," Dr. Tanner said. "Come with me, please."

"Finally going to tell us the truth?" I asked. Dr. Tanner turned his head. I couldn't see his eyes behind the dark shades but I could still feel his gaze on me.

"Yes, we are." He turned and escorted us to the kitchen. Once in there, he punched in a few numbers in the microwave. What's he doing? Marcus thought. I shrugged as a loud creak sounded from the wall. I turned and watched as it opened like a door. Inside the new room, there was a big mahogany table lined with velvet chairs. Two of them were already occupied. Dr. Tanner beckoned us into the room.

"Hello," said a female voice. As she leaned into the light, I could see her cornrowed black hair and brown eyes. The odd thing about her was that she wasn't wearing a chemical suit or glasses.

"Kids, this is Niki Collins. Niki, you know who these are already." Dr. Tanner turned to the other chair to the silent boy with Black hair, pale skin, and an anime t-shirt. He looked up and I gasped. His eyes were glowing a bright blue color, the same shade as Zander's. "And this," he said, "is Ryouta Miyamoto."

"Call me Ray." He had a slight accent

Niki smiled I gave them an awkward little wave. Rey's eyes were pretty unsettling.

"And this," Tanner said pointing next to Rey, "Is Cody Stone."

"There's no one there," Jayden said slowly like she was talking to a first grader.

"No, I'm here," said a male voice. The chair moved and heavy footsteps sounded on the wooden floor. The air rippled in the shape of a human. Slowly, colors shimmered until a guy stood in front of us. His pale skin was literally transparent, and his blond hair and hazel eyes were more like shadows than objects. The faint blue color of his t-shirt was barely noticeable. "Sorry, I have to focus a lot to become visible."

"Mutants also?" I asked, surprised because 1. I wasn't freaked out, and 2. I was confused because I thought that we were the only ones. I looked into Niki's brown eyes. I felt in her mind a lot more productivity than in anyone else's "You have extreme senses of sight, smell, taste, touch, and sound, plus extra senses that only other animals have. Reflexes are almost as quick as Marcus." Niki nodded. I turned to Rey next, staring into his electric eyes. "You have power over energy, mainly electricity. You store it and right now you have enough energy to power a New York for a month." He blinked, his eyes changing to white as he did so then back to blue. I took that as a yes. "Cody obviously can become invisible," I started. I looked at his face. His brown eyes stared back. "But also extreme osmosis is happening. Your skin can literally take form of all matter you touch, so it's more like camouflage."

"Yup, that's going to get creepy," Rey said. "I was thinking in Japanese. I didn't think that telepathy was that advanced." He put a hand in his pocket and pulled out some shades. Niki picked hers up and Cody's transparent form took out a pair, too.

I felt the presence of someone else, though. Turning quickly, I saw a man with greying hair and a tall, thin frame. "Nor did us. We haven't even seen the tip of the iceberg yet. Hello, Celia. I am Russel Graham. I've been waiting to meet you."

"Mr. President," Niki acknowledged.

"What?" Marcus asked. He looked as confused as Zander in Algebra.
