I sat on my bed as the docs around me worked on monitoring my body. Dozens of wires stuck to my skin. Most of them were on my head and chest. I watched them work as Marcus watched. He was on a chair with just as many wires coming out of his body that hooked up to machines. There were three people on the other side of the glass who had laptops and TV screens set up. They were testing my telepathy.
In total, there were five other people in the room, three behind the glass, and eight more behind the automatic glass door. Everyone besides the three outside, Marcus, and me wore yellow chemical suits protecting them from radioactivity. Dr. Tanner was outside the door in his white chemical suit. The others parted as he walked through the door.
"Feeling okay, Celia?" he asked. I nodded. "If I focus then I can avoid accidental seizures. Let's just get this over with."
He should be here, Tanner thought. Maybe he's watching on camera.
I glanced around the room that had four cameras in total that were visible. I shivered at the thought of people watching my every move.
In case you're wondering why I'm not hearing every voice in the room, I zoned them out. The fact is that it overwhelms me like crazy. The amount of energy it takes to block the voices is much less than trying to decipher each voice.
"Okay, sir, ready?" one of the docs asked. I noticed that it was the same lady that fought with Marcus. She turned on a switch and the machines buzzed to life. Every monitor in the room tracked our minds and bodies.
"Okay, Celia, I'm going to give Marcus a paper with some pictures on it. Tell us what he sees." I noticed the lady's nametag: Pam.
Pam gave Marcus a piece of paper and I got to work.
"Pig, Flower, book, house," I called out each of the images easily as Marcus looked at them. I remembered when I saw myself literally through someone else's eyes and I tried that. I could see the paper that Marcus looked at. I called out all 100 images in under two minutes.
Every doc and scientist took notes and stood astonished at the incredible miracle they just saw. Many more tests were given. I was able to read a paragraph Marcus read in his head and call out the numbers that were on a paper. After I passed each test with a perfect score, Tanner came up to me.
"Try to control his thoughts. Try to make him feel your emotions."
I concentrated on my mind, closing my eyes. Inside, I felt accomplished because of how well I was progressing. I felt the way my mind buzzed and opened my eyes. Marcus smiled.
"How are you feeling?" I asked Marcus.
"Accomplished," he answered.
I did it.
