"Today ladies and gentlemen is a very exciting day for me! It might not be for some of you but frankly, I don't care. The University of Chicago Writing Contest results are in and tonight at our fundraiser Mr. Goldberg and I, Mr. Jones, will have the pleasure to announce the winner."

No one was paying our English teacher any mind at all until he says, "I think it's very nice that the Dean of Students is giving the winner a 10,000 dollar scholarship."

I looked up at him as he says that.

Mr. Goldberg said nothing about a scholarship.

Just something about the winner's article being published somewhere.

Honestly I didn't care what happened to that article at that time because I knew it wouldn't win.

Now I was thinking I really needed to win. College ain't cheap.

"Isabella, aren't you of the contestants?"

James asks me and I nod.

"Yes, Mr. Anders, thank you for reminding me. Class, we have a contestant right here among us. Isabella Jennings is in the final 5 to win the scholarship and more."

Mr. Jones points to me and everyone turns, looking at me.

I had seen these people everyday but barely knew any of them but now they're were staring at me like some kind of spectacle.

I hated it.

Always have, people staring at me never made me feel comfortable at all.

"Anyways, if you're interested in coming, it will be held in our auditorium tonight at 8. Please come and show your support for your fellow classmates."

Mr. Jones goes back to the assignment we needed to do today but every once in a while someone would turn and look at me and then look back ahead.

One of them, I heard whisper to their friend that she was pretty sure I was dating two guys and that's when I realized she was the same girl from Theo's soccer games.

Also, I realized that she's terrible at whispering.

"So, I'm definitely coming with Dean tonight."

James says to me and I narrow my eyes.

"First of all, who said Dean was invited, much less you."

"Is there trouble in paradise Isabella? Already? I thought you'd at least string him along for a year."

He smirks at me and I hit his chest.

I then pretend that my hand doesn't hurt from his solid chest.

"I don't know why I agree to be your friend. You're just that person in the movies waiting for my downfall."

"No, I could never. I just know you too well."

He smirks at me and takes out paper for the writing assignment Mr. Jones just gave us.

I proceed to do the same when I hear him say, "On the other hand, you and Mona fighting seems like entertainment I shouldn't miss."

By the time I got to Theo's apartment, I was exhausted.

Luckily, it was my day off and I could get some sleep before going to this event that I've been regretting all day.

I place my back pack and throw my curly hair in a huge top bun before plopping on my bed.

Theo had left a note that he was somewhere with Mia so I was happily home along.

I had just put the covers over my head when there was banging at the door.
