Chapter Fourteen

Saxen

"Happy birthday!" I shouted as I wrapped my arms around Al.

"Ew. Get it off!" She shouted playfully while trying to get out of my hold until I finally let go and mock gasped.

"And to think I got you present. I thought what we had was special." I said dramatically while putting my hand to my chest feigning hurt.

"No Sax! Of course it was special, I love you!" She said playing along.

I glanced over to Jamie who was standing there amused and threw her a wink.

"No, it's too late the pain has been dealt." I add with a dramatic turn of the head.

"Oh whatever you big baby." Jamie said with a slap to my arm.

"Ow. Now you physically wound me." I say with a laugh.

"Good." Al huffed

We laughed and joked around until it was time for home room. After that, band was pretty laid back since we were getting sheet music for the upcoming final concert.

"Al, hurry up. We're gonna be late for PE." I whined

"Yeah, yeah. Like you care." She replied with a wave of her hand as she grabbed her stuff and followed me and Jamie to the locker room.

"I don't, I'm just in it for the undressing girls." I said as I held the door open for them.

"Perv!" They both called as everyone changed and headed to the gym.

We did attendance and then started jogging around the track for our warm up. I was in my own world and just jogging at a slow pace when a nudge to my side caught my attention.

"Hey bro, wanna ditch next period?" Asked Lareyne as we slowed to a stop to listen for instructions.

Should I? I haven't skipped in awhile and we aren't doing anything important in geography anyways.

"Yeah, sure." I answered finally.

"Alright, I'll catch you after class." She said before joining her team for sports.

After PE I was pulling my shirt over my head as Lareyne came over.

"Ready to go?" She asked leaning against the locker next to mine.

"Yeah, let's go out the back." I say as I sling my backpack over one arm and we start walking towards the exit.

We walked about halfway through the field and heard the bell go off signaling the start of class.

When we made it out of the neighborhoods and onto to the main road, we decided to go to the mall since it was like a block or two away from the school.

The walk there was filled with comfortable conversation. Lareyne and I only met at the beginning of the year but we got close fast.

Since school was still going on there weren't many people so we just grabbed some snacks from the vending machine and went to the park that we passed on the way here.

After getting comfortable on a picnic table at the abandoned park, Lareyne started digging in her backpack. Ashe finally pulled out a little tin box and opened it.

"Wanna hit?" She asked looking through the box and pulling out said joint.

I don't know if I do, I haven't smoked in awhile. Maybe if I do then I can pretend everything is alright. Even if its only for a short time. I'll feel better too.
