Chapter 12

My first reaction to seeing his name appear on my phone was too much for words. But it made me happy to know that he still would even consider talking to me, even after making him feel like shit. Guess that's what best friends do right?

I knew I didn't want to ignore Koda, but I also didn't want Zachariah thinking he was a one night (technically morning) stand, even though we didn't actually have sex.

"Kanji?" My dad said.

"Yeah?" I answered

"Tell me about your morning." He sounded curious but mostly suspicious, which is never a good thing.

"Nothing happened really, just found an old picture of me from like 7th grade," I chuckled "and on my way to the elevator I dropped all my stuff and. . ." I paused

Should I tell him about Zach? I thought. Better keep it on the down low.

"And?" Dad asked

"Oh and some guy was kind enough to help me gather everything!"

I tried to sound as casual as possible so he wouldn't question me later.

"We'll that's nice sweety, I'm glad had you had a great morning."

"Yea thanks. What about your morning?"

"It was pretty good nothing interesting, I was just busy with mom and grandma getting everything ready for this trip."

"I'm guessing that's a good thing," I laughed, "did grandma take control like usual?"

He laughed a little. "Luckily this time no. I had to keep control because I knew how to manage everything for once."

We both laughed pretty loud, because Brandon, mom, and grandma all woke up startled. Their faces were hysterical!

"What the hell?" Brandon said, "can you stop being a little fuck Kanji and just let me sleep?"

I rolled my eyes. "Awh did I wake up the ugly duchess from her beauty sleep? Get over it. We still have like 4 hours to go."

"Guys guys please don't fight, mom and grandma are just as tired and they would like some sleep too!" Dad said, "stop acting little kids, especially you Brandon."

"What why me?" Brandon whisper yelled.

"Because you're the older one! You should learn to be more mature and to not fight with your sister!"

I would've listened in on this little disputation, but I got sidetracked due to the fact that I hadn't replied to either Koda or Zachariah in over two hours. Hopefully they don't think I'm purposely ignoring them or something.

I finally read the messages. Koda's message said "Hey girly, please call me it's really REALLY important." And Zach's message said "Hello love, I miss you and I hope we get to talk more ;)"

I had decided to reply to Zach first, since I kind of left him without saying much.

My message read "Hey Zach! :) I miss you too, and I really hope we talk a lot more too! You're like such a great guy and I would love to get to know you more." I read over the message a couple times, making sure that everything was spelled correctly and put in a way that didn't sound creepy. Haha

I finally decided to call Koda. Since everyone in the car is asleep besides my dad, I don't think they'll care if I call someone, or talk, so I went ahead and dialed his number.

"Hey Kanji." Koda answered blandly.

"Hey Koda! I got your message from this morning! I would've called sooner but I'm on the road right now." I was so happy he answered me, I missed him so much.
