It took a lot of courage for me to move from Sydney to Las Vegas, leaving family and friends behind. But I needed a scenery change, things got too much back at home and running away seemed like a good idea, but I know I can't run forever. I stood in my new, empty apartment and smiled to myself "I'm home". Oh, my name is Kay and I'm a RN (nurse).

I was very happy to get a job in a hospital in Vegas, I was basically there 24/7. I knew no one, so work was my everything. Don't kid me, but I knew some of my fellow workers but I kinda kept to myself. I tended to stay around the emergency ward because that was always busy - to the alcoholics, drugs, shooting wounds and the badly injured, it kept me busy. And this was my life, for 4 months I've been busting my butt working and I didn't know my life was about to change.

A fellow worker, Courtney brought me into her friend group at work. I did like these ladies, they where amazing nurses. They where planning a big night out and asked me to come. I thought "no, no!" But I decided to say yes. I needed to get out, have a little dance and a bit of a drink. I spent a lot of time getting ready, loose curls, sharp winged eyeliner and an outfit; I choose a black, off the shoulder dress. We all met up and started the night.

A bunch of men sat at a table and I knew who they where - Zak, Aaron, Jay and Billy. Holy shit balls it was the GAC! I kept my cool. I saw them look over at least 100 times. I couldn't help but stare. Once I could release my eyes from them I went to buy a drink, as I was ordering a massive amount of alcohol was thrown at me! Some guy accidentally bump me, it was Aaron. I wasn't bothered, I had a black dress on and trust me I've had worst thrown at me. Aaron apologised and offered me a drink and to accompany him to his table. I didn't act like I knew them so I had to try and keep my cool. All the boys didn't mind me being there. As I spoke Zak stopped me and proceeded with questions "your accent? You're not American?" I laughed. "No. I'm from Australia". I knew the next question was coming, everyone I met had asked me this. "Do you guys really ride kangaroos around?" All their faces where waiting for an answer. I gave them the best answer I've got, with a straight face I said "no. Cool kids ride emus". Silence.

Aaron bursted into laughter and so did the other guys. We where all having a good chat but good times must come to an end. I left and thanked them for a lovely evening. I left. Zak kept looking at me and next thing Aaron is in his ear whispering something "dude. You're gonna let her walk away?" I heard my name, I turned and it was Zak. "Okay I usually don't do this but can I see you again?" He asked with anticipation. My palms where sweaty and I was stunned that this was all going down. I gave him my number and walked away.

One of the worst things in Vegas, trying to get a cab on a busy night. My friends where all drunk and had left while I was with the guys. I managed to get a cab. As soon as I had a minute to intake tonight's events my phone rang. It was Zak. I answered "hello?" I knew it was him. "This is Kay right?" He questioned, I giggled and said of course. "Good. Making sure you didn't give me a fake number" he sounded so confident. We arranged a date. I was getting nervous. What could come of this? I'm only here for 2 years.
