Chapter 18 - Kids and EQ

Narrator's POV

"Stand still. Eyes focus on your target."

The sun was slowly rising above the sea level. The large glowing sphere rose slowly into the dull morning sky. Casting sunbeams in every direction while it illuminated Crime Sorciere's guild hall. 

However, Jellal, and Team Genuine have already began their daily training.

"Is it normal for them to train in this early?" Following Lucy's gaze, everyone have their eyes towards the backyard. Meredy smiled as she watched the kids working so hard to learn.

"Yeah. Pretty much."

Simon explained. "We've been getting up early when we're on-the-run so no big deal."

Our little Asuka was staring at the backyard as well. Though, she had her eyes mostly on Team Genuine with admiration.

She then walked towards her parents but stopped on her tracks in the middle way with her head held low and didn't say anything.

"What's wrong, sweetie?" Alzack bent down to his daughter's height level and staring into her eyes.

Asuka rubbed her hands tightly. She was clearly nervous about something.

She took a deep breath and finally blurred out her words silently. "Can I ... Can I go to play with them?"

The wedded couple was stunned for a second but soon a gentle smile made way to their lips.

"Of course you can, Asuka."

Their daughter was nervous because she wants to make friends with the other kids. How adorable she is!

She really made them worry there. They thought she was uncomfortable or sick, but in the end she was just nervous that's all.

Hearing her parents giving her permission, Asuka finally held up her head and look at her parents excitedly.

"Really?"

Bisca giggled at her daughter's cuteness. "Yes you can, sweetheart. Go and talk to them." And she gestured Asuka to the backyard.

As April and her team were having a break after an hour of practice, she noticed the Connel family approaching. Because of her friendly nature, she couldn't help but to greet them, though their distance is a bit far.

"Morning, Mr and Mrs Connel." She waved her hand cheerfully, followed by Rye and the others.

"Good morning to all of you too." Alzack returned the gesture while smiling.

"Hey Asuka wanna join us?" Theodore invited as he saw the little girl beside the Connel couple.

Excited for the invitation, Asuka turned her little head to her parents. "Can I?" Her eyes was gleaming in excitement and hope.

"Yes sweety. Now you don't want to keep them waiting don't you?" Bisca smiled gently as she looked at her daughter jumping in excitement and went towards the group.

As the kids are chatting happily, the Connel couple went back to the indoors.

"Kids are growing so fast." Alzack concluded as he wrapped his arm around his wife's waist, who was smirking at his words.

"Since when you've become this romantic?"

Jellal went towards the kids and noticed Asuka, who was in a cowgirl costume as always.

"Hi, Asuka!" He greeted as he lowered himself to her height level and petted her head.
