Chapter 10-Sacred Arena of Earth

Chapter 10 - The Sacred Arena Of Earth

Where a large area of field lies, which is surrounded by rock mountains...

Using the rocks as a natural fence, the founder has made the place a training arena, just by adding a few more wire-net as the entrance.

Rex's POV
I felt the hardness of the wall, or technically one of the rock mountains surrounding us. Well, unlike the rest of the forest, this place is full of rocks, which is the best place to earthbend.

Speaking of earthbending...

"Jellal." I called. Making the blue haired mage glancing back at me in curiosity, as if wondering why I paused the sparring. The sudden stop makes both of us got to catch our breaths.

" Why don't you have a rest? You're gonna reach your limit if you keep going on like this." I pointed out as he managed to recover his breath. He is fighting from exhaustion I can tell. " I'm fine." Is the only answer I get before he got back to his fighting stance, waiting for the next round.

I sighed. As stubborn as always eh? "This is the last round got it?"

Jellal's POV

I breathed in and out as I tried to calm myself down. Sweats streamed down my forehead. My four limbs begin to feel weak and sore. But I couldn't care less.

I'm not going to give up. Not when I'm standing.

As usual, Rex sighed at my answer but silently submitted my wish as he prepares himself for another shot. Before we began, he made this the last round of the day, which didn't surprise me. 

I nodded.

One last shot. I told myself. The tiredness and soreness suddenly disappears, letting my strength and power once again overwhelmed me.

Strong.

Endure.

Diverse.

Wait and listen for the right moment to strike and, when that moment comes, act decisively.

Which is,

now.

The nearby pieces of earth and stone begins to levitate. As I punched at Rex's direction, one of the stones propelled to his directions. I kept on punching and kicking on different motions and soon more and more pieces of earth fly towards Rex.

However he blocked them using Rock Shield -- bringing up a slab of rock in front of him.

Knowing Rex, he's not someone that could easily be defeated. But I won't give up no matter what.

The dust from the attack earlier was slightly interrupting my sight. But this isn't a problem at all. I have to strike again before he recover from the previous attack. As a result I ran pass the Rock Shield and prepare to strike him again.

That is, I thought he is still there.

Rex's POV

Jellal made his first move using Earth Levitation. It's a common but useful strategy to begin your attack. Normally I would dodge but now I chose to block it instead. Jellal is good at planning strategy till you won't know what is in his mind.

But apparently he made a mistake. His attacks clashed into the shield--a rock wall, making the dust blurring our sight. It isn't a problem for me, instead, I took this as an advantage to get out from my place.

Just as I predicted he charged towards the other side of the wall, which is my precious location. "W-Where's-" I heard him gasped in shock as I charged towards him.He soon realized and turned towards me but,

It's too late.

"Earth Block!" With that he smashed to the hill ledges.

No one's POV

Rex and Jellal both give out all of their remaining strength and attack with all their might. But little did they know the Crime Sorciere members and the others are getting closer.

Just when the team arrives, the sparring between the two was just about to end.

Simon's POV

"I knew it!" They are probably practicing earthbending again. I mean, just look at the scattered pieces of stones on the ground! It's everywhere!

Sawyer chuckles. "So he broke the rules again afterall." "I wouldn't expect anything less." Macbeth wandered around as he smirked.

"He sure gave all his might. Even he seems to be overdone." Gray commented as he examine the place.

"That's one thing I hate about earthbenders." Ultear sighed."Let's see what excuse he have today."

And that is when our main protagonist came into view. First, we heard the sound rock crushing. And now, we see that they are still sparring. Probably unaware or our presence.

Rex launched the earth blocks at Jellal but instead of smashing it Jellal jumped from his location. Much to our surprise, he was able to bend the earth while in the air and propel the earth to Rex. It's odd. I thought earthbenders can only bend earth that is only in their physical reach? 

Wait. Don't tell me that he mastered the remote earthbending?

The remote earthbending of his was obviously caught Rex off guard, making Rex being knocked out. Jellal in the other hand helped Rex to get on his feet.

"You know what's the consequences once they find out right?"Rex reminded.

Hehe... You better be prepared, Jellal. I cracked my fingers  with an evil smirk on my face. Well apparently Ultear here is also doing the same thing as I am while the others looking us with a scared look. Even I don't have don't have a keen sense of hearing I still can hear Erik gulped in fear.

Jellal stopped unwrapping his bandages that was wrapped around his hands. "Do you really have to remind me?" A tired look appears on his face. "Can I stay back in the woods today?" He groans.

"You are not backing off aren't you, Mr Guild Master?" 

"I thought you are not allowed to go out, hmm?"
