You parked your car in your designated parking spot and sighed. Just another 'normal and boring' day at work. You were a receptionist at a hotel. Not such a 'great' job, but you needed something to pay your bills. What you truly wanted was something creative and engaging.
Well the situation you're in is completely different for your boyfriend. He's an actor and a pretty good one too. Fans go crazy for him! He's Dylan O'Brien... who else could it be?
You got out of your car and walked towards your building. You stepped inside the elevator and pressed the '9th' floor button. Your apartment had a pretty good view of the city.
You had bought your apartment with Dylan, after you had been dating for a year. You couldn't wait to see him. That's one thing you look forward to everyday.
TING!
You dragged yourself out of the elevator, longing to lay down in bed with Dylan. You took out your house keys from your purse and reached to unlock the door only to find that it was ajar.
Confused and a bit scared, you slowly opened the door and tip-toed inside. You closed the door behind you softly.
As soon as you shut the door the whole house went pitch dark and silent. You could hear your ears ringing. Because your eyes weren't much help, you felt around for the sofa. After you successfully located it, you placed your purse on top of it.
What you couldn't avoid looking at was the eerie glow coming from down the hall, from the floor. Keeping one had out to guide you, you walked closer to examine it. It was a trail of stars, glow-in-the-dark stars.
A wave of excitement hit you. You have always been fond of things that glow in the dark. You followed the trail till you reached a room. You couldn't make out what room it was because it was so dark.
Your hand met a hard, cold surface. You assumed it was the door and searched for the handle. After successfully finding it, you turned it and pushed the door open.
You were lost in your tracks and all thought of the world around you was gone as you stepped into the room. The whole room was decorated and sparkling with glow-in-the-dark stars of different sizes. You closed the door from which you had entered so that the stars would be brighter.
You felt like you were floating in space. There were stars everywhere. There was no spot empty! You still had a hand out and took steps with caution so that you wouldn't trip or bang into anything. The whole thing was mesmerising. You felt as if you were hyp...
Someone's arms slithered around your waist and turned you around. Fear, confusion, dread, curiosity and a sense of knowing who it was, was all mixed up inside you.
Out of the blue, your lips met with someone else's. At that moment all your doubts were cleared. You knew exactly who this was. Only one person kisses like this. Only one person makes you feel fuzzy inside.
There was a Click! sound, followed by the lights turning on. The sudden brightness blinded you, forcing you to shut your eyes. You didn't even see the person who held you captive.
"Hey, is the light too much? Should I turn it off?" A guy's voice whispered in your ear. You squinted but then gradually opened your eyes as you got used to the light.
Your eyes met with those familiar hazel eyes that you could stare into for hours.
"Dylan!" You hugged him so tight you thought he'd have trouble breathing later. He wrapped his arms around you, making you feel safe. You wish this moment would last forever. You pulled away and stood facing each other, holding hands
"So... Did you like my surprise?" He grinned. "I LOVED it! Thank you! You know how much I adore glow-in-the-dark stuff! But why? I mean, I don't want to sound ungrateful but why did you do this for me?" After I said it, I relised I shouldn't have. He probably thinks I never enjoy and be happy for anything.
"Well, I did it because I... Love you. You work so hard doing your job and I know how, in your words, 'boring' it is. You work five days a week, you take care of me and everyone around you and you clean the house and cook and do literally everything. Despite that, I always see you with a smile on your face. Even when you have a bad day, you have a smile on your face," Dylan narrated.
"I just... I really don't do much. Only when I get a role in a movie or something is when I work. I don't do anything! I mean, you work virtually every hour of your life! What I'm trying to say is that, people should look at you and be inspired. I can tell you that I am!" He kissed your forehead, "I love you so much [Y/N]."
You couldn't help but shed a few tears. You kept your head down and tried to not sniff much, but Dylan found out.
"What's wrong? Why are you crying? Did I say something? I'm super sorry! I didn't mean to," he said with panic and concern.
You looked up at him and hugged him. He rubbed your back, "It's okay, shh..." I backed away while wiping my tears, "I'm sorry. No one has ever said anything like that to me. I never thought that people actually look at me that, that someone's inspired because of me. That was just... Too much to take in."
Dylan told you to sit on the bed and gave you a few tissues. You wiped your eyes and sniffed your nose. Once you were almost back to normal you asked Dylan, "So, how long did it take you to do this all?"
Dylan chuckled, "Well, it took me about two and a half to three hours. But yeah, it was worth it in the end right?"
You were about to say something about how he wasted his time and that he could be doing something else, but you didn't. You kept it to yourself.
"Yeah it was worth it! I can't thank you enough!" You said. He got up and switched of the light. Suddenly, the room was lit up once again with the stars. The sight never made you bored.
He held your hand and guided you to bed. You took your shoes off and climbed in next to him. You rest your head on his shoulder and his arms were wrapped around you.
Both of you snuggled, just how you wanted. Soon, you dozed off, ending this unforgettable evening with a peaceful sleep with the one guy you love with all your heart.
