"We need to leave here. Are there soldiers outside?" Marcus spoke up from beside me. I stood up and wiped my eyes.
"No, it's clear." I said quietly.
"I should have believed you. I left as soon as I realised." Someone said as Tris walked to him. I assumed this was a sibling or a relative but probably her brother. They hugged each other tightly for a moment.
"Why is this happening? I don't understand. Why are Dauntless fighting for Erudite." He said and looked at me.
"They don't know what they're doing. They're in a simulation." I said to him.
"We need to wake them up. I have to get into Dauntless." Tris said.
"It's a fortress. It's not gonna happen." Marcus said and I snorted. He looked at me and must not have realised I was a leader.
"I can get us in there." I said casually and Tris smirked slightly.
"She's a leader." Tris said to her family and a look of realisation hit Marcus.
"Brayden right?" He said to me and I nodded.
"The one and only." I mumbled to myself.
.
"Get ready." I said to everybody.
"What now?" Tris's dad, Andrew, said.
"You're not gonna like it." Tris said and pressed the button to open the door. I ran and jumped into the air landed on my feet. I waited for everyone else before running along the took to the net.
"There's a net at the bottom. Don't think, just jump." Tris said and climbed onto the ledge, then jumped. I went last so I could help the others at the top. I jumped off the ledge, feeling free again. Then, I climbed off the net and we gathered round.
"Let's go." I said and we took off on a jog. We got closer to the chasm so we slowed down. I looked around the corner and saw Peter patrolling the corridor so I turned around back to Tris.
"It's Peter." I whispered and she nodded.
"Wait here." She said to the others and we walked around together. I walked up behind him and kicked the back of his leg so he dropped his gun. He turned and raised his arms at us and he looked frightened.
"Against the wall. Against the wall." Tris said and practically backed him against the wall.
"How are you awake?" Tris demanded.
"Because I'm smarter than you, and they need me." Peter said and looked at me.
"What about you huh?" He said and I glared at him.
"A girl can change her mind." I growled and he chuckled.
"Where are they controlling it from?" Tris asked but he didn't say anything.
"Why would I tell you that, it's not like your gonna shoot me." Peter said and I chuckled.
"Why do people keep saying that?" She said sarcastically and grazed his side with a bullet.
"Where are they controlling it from?" She demanded and I laughed.
"Oh! I know!" I said and she looked at me.
"Yeah I do. Bring him along though." I said and turned to walk away. I showed them through the corridors until we reached the room that I had been in before.
"Did you really need to shoot him?" Marcus said.
"Every minute we waste another Abnegation dies and another Dauntless becomes a murderer. Peter lets go." Tris finished and we kept walking. We walked past the training room, around the corner then up a flight of stairs until we reached another corner. I looked around and saw a group of guards standing talking.
