I woke up in my bed, to my head throbbing. I looked at the clock. 4:28am. I heard snoring. Must be my step dad. I went to get up to use the washroom, but I tripped over something. A body.
“Oww!” The person said, curling up into a ball.
“Cody?!” I asked.
“Yeah!” He said.
“Why are you here? At 4:30am?!”
“I needed to see if you were okay!” He explained.
“What do you mean? What happened?!” I asked.
“Maggie, you passed out.”
“Why?!”
“Your mom said something about not eating right. I heard a scream, so I rushed over here as soon as possible.”
“Why?” I asked.
“Because I-err. You’re my friend. Yeah. You’re my friend, and I care about you!” He said.
“Oh. Right. A friend.” I sighed, but not loud enough for Cody to hear.
“Yeah. So are you okay?” He asked.
“Yeah I guess. My head is pounding though.” I said.
“Want me to go get your mom?” He asked.
“No. I’ll be fine. I just need more sleep. That’s all.” I said.
“Maggie. Your mom said you weren’t eating right. She said you threw up last night. What’s going on?”
“Nothing. I just-I don’t-I’m just not really hungry.”
I honestly don't know how to explain it. I'm just never hungry.
“Then why did you throw up last night? Did you make yourself throw up?” He asked.
“NO. I don’t know. I just had this really sharp pain in my stomach and I went to the bathroom and puked, so I went downstairs because my throat was burning, and my mom felt my forehead and said I was burning up, so she told me to get a shower, so I got a shower, then when I dried off and stuff, I felt really dizzy, like the room was spinning, and I dropped to the floor…I had no control. I really don’t know what’s going on.” I said, remembering.
“Want me to take you to the doctor?”
“No. I’ll be fine! Really. Maybe my mom’s right. Maybe I do need to eat better.” I said.
“You sure?”
“Positive! Now can I go back to sleep?” I asked.
“Yeah.”
“K. You can leave now.” I said.
“No thanks.” He smiled.
“Well why would you wanna stay here with me?” I asked.
“Just in case you pass out again. I don’t know.”
I sighed. “Fine. But don’t snore again.” I said, climbing back into bed.
“I don’t snore!”
“Cody. I heard you.”
“I have no control over snoring.”
I sighed again. “Fine. Goodnight.”
“Night, angel.”
“Why do you like calling me angel?” I asked.
“I don’t know. Just a habit I guess?” He said.
“Why? So used to calling other girls angels?” I asked..
