Not now, not ever. {Chapter Eight}

I slowly walked toward my closet.

“Cody, I swear if that’s you!”

They laughed. “It’s not Cody.”

I knew that voice.

“COLE?!” I screamed.

“Yes.” He said.

He came out of the closet and pulled me right into a hug.

“I don’t think I’ll ever let go.” He said.

I smiled. “What are you doing here?!”

“Surprise!”

“Wow. I’m stupid. I should have known this was going to happen. You always pull stuff like this.” I said.

We both laughed. He let go of me.

“Hey! What happened to never letting go?” I asked.

He laughed, and then pulled me back into a hug.

“How long are you staying?” I asked, finally breaking the silence.

“Until the 26th.”

“Can I come with? Like when you go back?”

He laughed. “It’s a surprise.”

“COLE.”

“Why do you wanna come back anyways?” He asked.

“Well…for Canada day and to get away from Tad.”

“Where will you stay if you come?” He asked.

“My grandparents. They don’t live far from your house anyways.”

“Or…you could just stay at my house…in the guest room?” He asked.

I smiled. “Possibly.”

Cole smiled.

“I don’t see what’s so bad about you hanging with Tad anyways.” He said. 

I let go of him, and then walked toward the balcony. I leaned against the railway looking up at the sky.

“You don’t see what’s so bad about him? You’re the one saying he was trouble from the start.” I pointed out.

He sighed, then walked over and stood next to me.

“Maggie.”

“Yes?”

“Are you worried about liking him again? Is that why you won’t hang out with him?” He asked.

“No. I’ll never give him another chance anyways. How was his party?” I asked.

“Why won’t you give him a chance?” He asked, ignoring my question. I just wanted to change the subject. But, he seems glued to it.

“You honestly need an answer to that?” I turned to walk away but he grabbed my wrist.

“Maggie, I know he cheated on you…but how would you feel if you’re the one who cheated, and he wouldn’t give you another chance?”

“Ok…first of all, I gave him 4 chances. He blew them all! And second, I wouldn’t cheat in the first place because it’s WRONG.” I jerked away from his grip and went downstairs.

I heard him yell my name, and then I heard footsteps coming down the stairs.

I walked out my front door hoping to get away. I needed to get some fresh air. I sat down in my front yard, and soon enough, Cole joined me.
