Chapter 38

I wake downstairs and spy Elijah and Klaus reading. My baby bump has grown even bigger which makes me so happy. I walk through the parlor with my hand on my stomach and smile at both of them as they smile at me. I go into the kitchen and open up the fridge.

"Good morning" I hear a voice say. I turn and see Elijah leaned against the doorway, admiring me.

"Morning" I say tipping my head at him as I search the fridge. Rebekah walks in the backdoor, dragging a trash can. "Hey, I know I'm the only one that actually eats and drinks in this house, but maybe giving me some money for groceries would be nice" I say as I close the fridge.

"I'll have someone pick up groceries, you know you can't go out into the Quarter" Klaus calls out to me. So Klaus and I are kind of back together. You know what, I don't know. It's complicated, it's always complicated between Klaus and I.

"Make sure they pick up bleach" Rebekah says to Klaus. I sit down at the counter and look at Elijah as he opens up a cupboard.

"You know, I do hope my siblings were hospitable to you, in my absence" Elijah says as he pulls out a box of cereal.

"Yes, in your absence your siblings were very polite to me" I assure him as he brings down a bowl and spoon with the cereal. "But, while you've been gone, I've been attacked by French Quarter vampires, I've had this weird wolf protecting me and I almost was murdered by witches who were convinced my baby is Lucifer" I explain to him with a little laugh. Elijah pours the cereal into a bowl and then reaches into the fridge, pulling out milk. I feel embarrassed since I said there was no food and now there's a bunch of food in front of me. "Oh, okay. Maybe you guys do have food" I laugh as Elijah admires me. "But the point is, your sister and brother have been protecting me while you were gone" I reassure him.

"Well, then I am glad to see you in one piece" Elijah says as he gives me the bowl of cereal. "Now, back to the murderous witches, I have my concerns"

"Me too, they're hell bent on killing my baby and I will not let anything happen to her. But I can't really do anything about that because my life is linked magically to Sophie Deveraux" I say as I eat the cereal.

"Yes, I think it's time we took care of that little problem" Elijah says. Rebekah comes back in dragging the corpse of a girl behind her.

"I'm all for it. As soon as they are unlinked, we get to leave this crap town and then maybe we can get some proper clothing because she insists on wearing dresses everywhere" Rebekah scolds me.

"They are comfortable!" I defend. A small smile tugs at Elijah's lips.

"So Elijah, who do we have to kill?" Rebekah asks him curiously.

"Probably no one" He says with the smile still on his lips. Rebekah and I glare at him. "Alright, potentially everyone"

I see Klaus and Elijah about to leave.

"Where are you guys going?" I ask curiously.

"Going to threaten a little witch named Sophie Deveraux, Rebekah will keep you company while we are gone" Klaus tells me as he comes towards me and places a kiss on my forehead before him and Elijah leave. I go upstairs to my room and begin to clean up some clothes that have been laying around.

"Package for you" Rebekah says coming into my room.

"Thanks" I say as I take it from her hands and sit in the armchair. She sits on the arm of the chair and perches over my shoulder as I open up the package. It's a small scrapbook. "Caroline must've sent this" I say as I run my hand over the spine of the book.
