Chapter 50

I sit with Klaus in bed, his head in my lap as I try and soothe him. I can't do anything to get the dagger out, so I just try and be there for him in his never ending pain. His eyes are closed and there is a huge scar on his chest from the dagger. I stroke his hair and cheeks delicately.

"I'm so sorry..." I breathe out as I look down at him, feeling terrible for what Elijah has done to him. I blame myself for this, for Rebekah and Marcel too. I could've stopped Klaus. I could've done something, and now all three of them are paying for it. I dropped an unconscious Celeste off in the bayou to Hayley. She's tougher than I am, but I'll get out there as soon as Klaus is feeling better. Suddenly Elijah walks into the room with Camille.

"Who stabbed him?" Cami asks Elijah curiously.

"I did, and now I intend to remove it. You might want to take a step back" Elijah says to Cami.

"Elijah I have everything handled, why is she here? No offense Cami" I say to both of them.

"Non taken, I was just about to ask the same question" Cami says confused.

"Because, out of all people, you two are probably the two that he wouldn't immediately slaughter" Elijah says as he grabs the scalpel and cuts along the large red scar. Klaus is fond of Camille, he speaks of her often. He respects her similar to how he respects me, I guess Cami and I are similar in that way. Elijah plunges his hand into Klaus's chest. I look away in horror as Klaus cries out in pain. I hate seeing him like this, but Elijah finally pulls the dagger out. "Niklaus will be weak as he recovers, so watch over him and feed him, if you would, but slowly, please, and from your wrist" Elijah instructs Cami.

"Don't you guys have blood bags in storage?" Cami asks Elijah not really wanting to feed Klaus.

"We do, but your blood is laced with vervain. So it will burn him. He will ingest it slower" Elijah says to Cami, then he turns to me. "Perhaps you could use this time constructively, persuade him not to murder his baby sister"

"If you think I will let anything happen to Rebekah, you're crazy" I say to Elijah, still keeping my hands on Klaus's face. Elijah nods his head and turns to Klaus.

"Niklaus it was not my desire to bring you pain, but I will not see you hurt Rebekah" Elijah tells Klaus who has finally opened his eyes a crack. "Now I fear Sabine will be making her final move against us. I intend to find her and end this" Elijah says to Cami and myself. Too bad that Hayley and I aren't through with her yet.

"Elijah.. You will pay for this.." Klaus whispers weakly to Elijah. Elijah just ignores Klaus and walks out. Cami and I are left as Klaus rests. Cami just looks at Klaus and I as I try and soothe him, by stroking his hair and face.

"How did you two meet? I mean, you seem really close.." Cami asks me curiously, but she looks a uncomfortable, considering her and I haven't really talked often.

"Well, we kind of met officially the night I returned back to my home town. I was attacked by two guys, and Elijah saved my life, he brought me back to their house and that's when I met him, even though months prior we met outside a bar in Chicago, but I didn't remember it" I say to her truthfully.

"Oh he compelled you?" Cami asks curiously.

"No I was just really drunk, plus I was on vervain, my sister dates vampires and my best friend is one" I say laughing. Cami laughs a little with me.

"You seem really nice, I'm sorry that you are in this situation. But Klaus talks about you all the time. How sometimes you annoy him but at the end of the day he doesn't know what he'd do without you" Cami tells me as she smiles at Klaus and I.
