“Liv! He’s here! Hurry up!” My mother’s voice echoed from downstairs.

            I slowly stood up and made my way to the door, but as soon as I had reached it, I stopped. I couldn’t move any further. I didn’t want to move any further. Well, a part of me wanted to. A part of me wanted to get the day over with and a part of me thought that the sooner I walked downstairs and the sooner I got in the car, the sooner the day would end. But a completely different part of me convinced my feet to stay glued to the floor and fastened in place. I didn’t want to move and go downstairs and be isolated in a car with him alone. Just the thought of him emitted chills down my spine. He was strong and dangerous, two qualities that could very much end in his favor.

            Almost immediately, I remembered Niall’s plan and I immediately texted him.

            TO NIALL:

           

                        He’s here.

 

            Within seconds, my phone screen lit up with Niall’s name written across the screen.

            FROM NIALL:

 

                        And I’m a street away. Its okay, babe, I’ll be right behind you.

 

            His words gave me some small amount of confidence, enough confidence to move my feet from where they were plastered and to steer them down the stairs and towards the car. I grabbed my bag on the way out.

            “You look beautiful,” Brian said as I made my way into the car after he had opened the passenger door for me. I didn’t understand why he was trying to be such a gentlemen when he was completely far from that.

            He sat down in the driver’s seat and turned the keys.

            “Are you going to say thank you?” He looked at me.
