Look through her text from Rin a few days ago, Y/N decided it was time to meet up with Rin, and see what was going on. After swim practice, Y/N made her way to the all boys academy, Samezuka. A train ride later Y/N was at the school, kinda terrified. Many boys were looking at her...in a weird way. Too much testosterone in one place I guess. Seeing a girl only happens once in every blue moon for these guys.
Y/N checked in with the Secretary at the front desk, saying that she was his sister's friend, the woman let her in.
'Okay So, Rin is at swim practice right now. I guess I can surprise him, and wait for him in his room.' Y/N thought.
Y/N made her way to his dorm, still earning many glances from boys. Once she made it to Rin's room, the tried opeing the door only to find it locked.
'Damnit I knew I should've thought this through.'
Y/N had an idea pop into that little skull of hers, taking a bobby pin out of her hair, and sticking it into the lock. Soon enough she heard a satisfying click sound, and rushed into the room so no one else would see her. The room was nice, slightly messy, but two boys lived in it so it was to be expected. Taking a seat on Rin's bed, Y/N pulled out her phone noticing that Rin still has another hour of practice.
Shrugging, she just laid down on his bed, eyeing the many pictures around the room. One in particular catching her eye. The boys were no older than maybe 8 or 9 in the picture. I was Rin's old team consisting of Haru, Makoto, Nagisa, and himself. They were all smiling, well minus Haru, and looked so happy. Y/N smiled to herself, but still questioned why it got this bad. What happened to Rin in Australia? Y/N felt her eyes starting to get heavy, but she carefully took the picture off of the desk, and laid down back on the bottom bunk.
'It doesn't hurt to rest my eyes for a little bit'
Practice was over, and Rin and Nitori were heading back to their dorm room. Rin tried unlocking the door, only to see it was still unlocked when Y/N 'broke in'. Rin turned on the lights, earning a slight yell from Nitori, seeing a sleeping girl on Rin's bed. Rin slightly confused until he turned around see the familiar H/C haired teen.
"Nitori, can you leave us alone for a bit," Rin sounded serious, and the silver haired, frantic teen scurried out of the room as quickly as possible.
Rin saw the photo Y/N was holding onto gently, as if she would destroy the picture if it were touched. Her S/C face showed content as she slept. Her H/C tressed framing her face beautifully as they were scattered around the mattress. Rin couldn't help but blush at the state of this girl, but he had been waiting to talk to her for awhile.
"Y/N," Rin started, slightly shaking the girl.
Her E/C eyes fluttered open, and she yawned, burying her face into the mattress. Rin smiled to himself, and put a hand on her back.
"Y/N, practice is over. You came here because of my text right?"
Y/N stretched, sitting up on the bed, nodding to answer his question.
"What did you want to tell me Rin? You sounded pretty serious in your text" Y/N looked into the red eyes of her shark like friend, only to see the sadness, and darkness in his eyes. He could only sigh, looking off to the side.
"Y/N...I understand you want things to get better between your team, and me...but," He looked back into those deep E/C eyes again, "I'm not sure how long it will be before that happens."
Y/N looked down, tears stinging her eyes, but she quickly wiped them away.
"No matter what..."she started,"no matter what you guys will be a team again. I know you want to swim with your team again. I can see it in your eyes. If you think Rei or I replaced you... you're wrong. They want to swim with you Rin. They miss their friend...their old teammate. From see this picture you looked so happy....What happened in Australia to make you this way?" Y/N grabbed his hand, looking directly in his eyes, determination showing in them.
Rin sighed, "You were bound to found out at some point....In Australia it was so much different than here. I didn't speak the language, nor was I as good of a swimmer than everyone at my school. I tried making friends, but that didn't happen either. I was so used to first place here, but there I was always in dead last. I felt discouraged that I wasn't as good of a swimmer like everyone else, and that my dream, and my Dad's dream wouldn't come true..."
Pain. Pain was all Y/N saw in those magnificent red eyes. She couldn't help herself, but she leaned in and hugged Rin.
"This is not out of pity, you've just been through a lot...I'm glad you told me this."
Rin hugged back, slightly trembling due to the bad memories.
"Rin Matsuoka..." She pulled away, earning the attention from the maroon haired boy, "I can promise you one thing...Everything that has been happening so far this year..I want you to know that I will always be there for you. I'm not your old team, but what we have is the start of a life long friendship that I know will never be broken."
Rin nodded, his red eyes getting misty, "T-Thank you Y/N" He managed to choke out.
Y/N stood up, and wrapped her short, but toned arms around Rin's neck, hugging him closely and tight. Then and there he would promise to himself to make things better between him and his old team, but also came to a realization. He knew his feelings were true, and his heart was not lying.
'Y/N....I love you.'
