'Something is wrong.....Something...Something is wrong with me....'
Y/N thought to herself, vomiting blood in the bucket next to her. Hanako rushed into the room, holding her hair back immediately.
'What's happening to her?' Hanako questioned.
"We need to run some tests....immediately." Hanako said, paging the doctor in the process.
Y/N just sat there, scared, tears pricking her E/C eyes.
After another bone marrow aspiration, and biopsy, Y/N had to go through a spinal tap. Y/N gripped onto the sheets as her cerebral fluid was extracted from her body.
As the tests were concluded, Hanako entered the room, a solemn expression on her face.
"Y/N.....Your tests don't show you have lymphocytic leukemia...."
Y/N's face was surprised, "So...my cancer is gone or..?"
Hanako shook her head, tears falling down her cheeks, "It has changed to a different type of Leukemia. It's Chronic Myeloid Leukemia...."
"How is it different than what I already had?" Y/N asked, her voice trembling.
"Well...you can still bruise easily, and have shortness of breath....but..."
"But?" Y/N said, tears streaming down her face.
"You will soon suffer from fatigue, anemia, malaise, which is the feeling of discomfort, illness, or uneasiness, and night sweats. Malaise can cause you to go into depression, and feel even more sick than before. Which explains this morning.
Y/N remained silent, but her entire body trembled, "I-Is there anything else.."
Hanako sighed, and took a seat next to the scared teen, "You will also experience bleeding, bruising, pallor, reduced ability to exercise, shortness of breath, and weight loss. Since this disease typically only occurs in adults...your body will give out faster than usual. Y/N...you can't swim anymore. Ever again. It's too much for your body to handle."
That was it. Y/N broke, putting her hands up to her face, sobbing. Hanako held the sobbing teen in her arms, crying along with her.
'So all this time...I've only been getting worse. I guess I can't swim with you after all Rin....and everyone else.'
As the day progressed, Y/N picked up her phone, group texting her team.
From: Y/N
Hey guys....You need to come here as soon as possible. I have some news.
After school, all of the boys rushed to the hospital. As if on cue, they all ran into her room.
Y/N cracked a sad smile, "You guys need to sit down....We need to talk."
After about 30 minutes of explaining her condition, Y/N was back to where she started, in tears. Everyone sat in silence, Rei and Nagisa cried along with her.
"It's like after all these years...I've been lied to. I was hoping I'd get better, and fulfill my dream to become an Olympic swimmer, and live on my Dad's dream. I have been preparing all my life for a future I will never get to have. It's like my entire life has been a waste ever since I got sick."
Makoto got up from his seat, and sat next to Y/N, and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, resting his cheek on the top of her head.
"You're life has not been a waste. You've accomplished so much and you're just 17....Plus," Makoto started, and looked at the other three before him, "You met us....and I know that our lives would have been so much different without you in it. This all wasn't for nothing. You've gotten to stronger in the process, and made a mark on our lives that couldn't have ever happened if it weren't for you."
Y/N sat there in silence, and just looked at her friends before her. She smiled to herself, "My new dream," Y/N started, and looked at everyone around her, "My new dream is to swim with you guys at nationals next year. I might not have the lung capacity like I used to, but I want to swim just one more time...and with the training I can do that."
Hanako stood in the doorway, smiling at the teen before her.
'Troubled....but strong...Y/N this journey will be the hardest yet, but you'll make it through. I promise'
After about 4 hours of talking, and catching up, the boys left, all hugging Y/N before they left.
'That was nice," Y/N said smiling to herself, lying down, and falling into a dreamful sleep about Finals in a few days.
