Troubled But Strong

Going to Finals

 "You guys what!?!" Y/N screamed at the screen.
"We made it to Finals Y/N-Chan," Makoto laughed from the other side of the screen.
Currently, the boys were on their way home from Prelims, winning the 400x Medley.
"How did Samezuka do?" Y/N questioned.
"They will be there. Rin won his race, and will be swimming his 100x Freestyle," Makoto explained.
'He won't be in the Medley race? That's odd.' Y/N thought.
"Y/N-Chan~ Can you come to the festival with us before Finals?" Nagisa whined, earning a head shake from Y/N.
"I can;t Nagisa...You know what happens when I'm exposed to too many people. I need to stay as healthy as possible for Finals."
"Awww. Okay Y/N-Chan!~ Stay healthy so you can see me swim," Nagisa yelled, pointing to himself, earning a chuckle from the sick teen.
"Hey guys I have to go. It's getting pretty late."
"Okay Y/N-Chan. We'll see you next week," Makoto smiled
"Y/N-Senpai...If you ever need help with any school work...I-I'll be there in a heartbeat," Rei blushed.
Y/N chuckled, "Thank you Rei-Kun. I'll be sure to ask," she smiled sincerely.
Rei nodded, and everyone said Goodnight to Y/N through the speakers of her laptop, making her smile.

From: Shark Week
I'm on my way now! Sorry I'm running late, the guys and I went out for a victory dinner.

Y/N smiled at her phone, reading the message from her best friend.
To: Shark Week
It's alright really. I have a movie picked out for us, and everything. Hanako and I made up your bed, too.
From: Shark Week
Thanks. I'll be there in five minutes.

Y/N sighed, and looked up at the ceiling, smiling up to herself. Flashes of her kiss with Rin kept flashing into her head.
'Ugh....Why did I have to make this difficult.'
Soon enough a knock was heard at the door, revealing the maroon haired teen.
"Hey," Rin said, smiling at the girl in front of him.
Y/N giggled, sitting up, "Hey Sharky. I heard you pulled out a win for me?"
"Of course I did. I told you I'd win this for you didn't I?" Rin arched a brow.
"Just get over here, and give your favorite sick friend a hug," Y/N said, holding her arms out.
Rin chuckled, and walked over to Y/N's bed, hugging her tightly.
"You've certainly have gotten stronger? New regime?"
"Yeah. If I want to win I need to be as strong as possible."
"Don't....Don't hurt yourself okay?"
Rin ruffled her H/C hair, "Don't you worry tator tot, I'm going to win this for you. No matter what.....You couldn't compete this year. You could've won this in a heartbeat...."
"Not in a heartbeat. I wasn't THAT good Rin."
"But you are! Not 'were', you are still an amazing swimmer, and until this round of chemo is over I'm going to get you back into the water!" Rin exclaimed, his red eyes gleaming with determination.
Y/N sighed, but managed to break out into a smile, "Alright, next season I'll swim with you. Hell even if I'm better by the end of the summer I'll swim with you," Y/N said with a slight chuckle at the end.

After the little swim dispute, Y/N set up a movie on the screen.
"What are we watching tonight?" RIn asked, sitting next to Y/N on her bed.
"The Visit," Y/N stated bluntly.
'A horror movie? Really?' Rin said to himself, shaking his head.
"What?" Y/N said, pouting slightly at the teen.
"It's nothing. Just start the movie."
Y/N eyed Rin suspiciously, but played the movie anyway.

After the movie~

Y/N fell asleep on Rin 3/4 of the way into the movie, but Rin never noticed her small frame rest onto his shoulder.
As the end credits rolled up, Rin stretched, "Well that was a dumb movie eh Y/N?....Y/N?"
Rin looked down, and saw his small friend curled up against him.
'Tch she fell asleep. How long has she been like that?'
Rin found himself staring at Y/N for a few minutes, examining every detail about the way she slept. (Creeeeepyyy) Her chest rose up and down at a steady pace signifying she was in a deep sleep, and her face was so calm. Rin spoke up just above a whisper, "You make it so difficult for me to not love you....You know that?" Rin kissed her forehead, and gently lifted the H/C girl off of him. Y/N's small hand almost immediately grabbed onto the hem of his shirt, she was still asleep, but had a death grip on him, startling him ever so slightly.
Rin smiled to himself, "Alright, alright I'll stay by your side."
Rin laid on his side, pulling Y/N closer to him.
'As long as I'm here....Still breathing...nothing is going to happen to you.' Rin said to himself, his eyes soon felt heavy, causing him to fall asleep.

About five minutes after Rin fell completely asleep, Y/N opened her eyes, looking at the sleeping face next to hers, and she smiled.
"Rin....I love you, too....But not just you. I guess I need to figure things out before my time is up huh? I'll be in the water with you one last time....I promise. Sadly, you can't protect me from this, but I'll hold on a little longer for you...and the others," Y/N leaned over and kissed his cheek, soon falling back asleep.

'Starting now to the very end is going to be a battle for me.....A battle I can no longer fight. It'll be time to say goodbye soon Rin....But it's not your fault if I die...Just remember that.'
With that final thought of the night, Y/N felt her eyes tears up, leaving streams down her cheeks. As if Rin read her mind, he held her closer, hoping he would never have to let go of his best friend....and the only person he has ever loved.
