Billie's POV:
I was racing to get home, weaving through all the traffic with pure joy and cautiousness. Chelsea actually did something other than stay in bed all day. She got up and went downstairs, which may not seem like much but it was. I sped through cars fast but safely, with Mike and Tre following behind me in their own cars. We were all anxious to get home and see Chelsea.
After driving for about twenty minutes, we finally made it home and all raced inside. Adrienne stopped us before we went upstairs while smiling.
"Calm down before you scare her to death," Adrienne laughed.
"Awe, come on! We wouldn't scare her!" I protested.
"Yeah, we're just gonna talk," Mike agreed with me.
"Please?" Tre begged.
Before Adrienne could speak, there was a knock at the door. I walked to the front door and opened it, finding a tall woman in a business suit, holding a briefcase. She had blonde hair, dark brown eyes, sharp cheekbones, and a devilish glare.
"Hello, I'm Sabrina Currior with child services here for the wellbeing of Chelsea Martia? She is staying here, correct?" Selena asked with a horridly stern voice.
"Um, yeah. She is staying here, but sh-" I got cut off.
"Great, please show me to her room, so I can make sure that she's doing alright."
"Actually, that's what I was trying to tell you, but you talked over me. Anyways, she's going through depression and probably wouldn't like to see you right now, or anyone else for that matter."
"If I may, Chelsea hasn't talked for a couple of weeks and has barely come out of her room: she's not okay to see right now," Adrienne said, trying to relieve the tension.
"Well I'm sorry but its my job-" Sabrina began.
"I don't care if its your job. She witnessed her father's death and already has enough pressure from her mother at the moment. So I'm sorry but its my job to protect her like she is my own daughter," Adrienne snapped calmly.
"If you want to talk to her, we'll have to make sure she's okay with it," Mike added sternly.
"I'll go ask, but don't get your hopes up because she probably will stay in her room," Tre said honestly before running upstairs to get Chelsea.
We all stood in silence, exchanging dirty looks with Sabrina, who also gave dirty looks.
I hate Sabrina. I hate her so much! Does she honestly think we'd harm Chelsea? I understand its her job but man, I want her to get the hell outta here. If she approached this whole situation differently, I wouldn't hate her, but she fucked up her chances of me being okay with her. Now she's making Chelsea come out of her room? I thought she was supposed to help kids? Guess I was wrong...
Tre came back downstairs with Chelsea following behind him. It was obvious she was holding back tears. Mike, Adrienne, and I all noticed and looked at Tré with confusion. He shook his head and guided Chelsea to Sabrina. Sabrina smiled.
"Hi, sweetie! I'm Sabrina and I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions?" she asked her, happier than she was when she talked to us.
"Um...she asked me to answer them for her because she doesn't want to talk," Tré said anxiously.
"Can't she just write down her answers?" she asked with confusion.
Tre looked at Chelsea, who shrugged and unsurely nodded her head. Adrienne and Mike looked worried, probably because of the fact they didn't know what Chelsea would "say" to Selena. I have to admit, I was anxious.
What if Chelsea doesn't like staying here and she has to get taken away? I don't want that to happen! Sure I haven't known her for long but somehow, she's growing on me. She's just like my kid now. I don't want her to live with any other family. She belongs in our family and I won't let her get taken out of it.
Chelsea's POV:
Adrienne waved for Sabrina and I to follow her. She guided us into the living room and left after giving me a hug. Sabrina and I sat on the couch, with me trying to avoid eye contact. She opened her briefcase and pulled out a clipboard and some papers along with a pen. She also pulled out a video camera and propped it up on the coffee table.
"So, I'm going to ask you a few questions. Is that alright?" she asked in a soft toned voice.
Since I didn't talk, I stayed quiet and pointed to her pen and papers. She nodded her head while grabbing a blank piece of paper and handing me her pen. I grabbed each of them from her nervously and wrote down my answer to her previous question.
"You can ask me questions but please don't bring up my parents because I don't like crying in front of strangers," I wrote honestly.
"I promise I won't. Okay so, how do you like your room?" Sabrina asked.
"Its a lot nicer than my old room, so I like it a lot."
She picked up another pen she had and recorded my answer on her paper. I watched and began to nervously bounce my leg.
"Has Adrienne, Billie, Mike, Tré, or anyone showed signs of harming you?" Sabrina asked.
"They've never tried to harm me," I wrote.
"That's good. So have you talked to Jakob and Joseph yet?"
"Yes."
"Do they seem like they would make good brothers?"
"Yes. They are very protective of family."
"That's great, sweetie. Now what about Adrienne and Billie? Do they seem like good guardians?"
"They really do. They always seem to care and they don't judge people right away."
"I just have one more question and I want you to answer as honest as you possibly can, okay?"
"Okay."
"Do you feel safe here?"
Billie's POV:
Adrienne, Tré, Mike, and I all waited in the kitchen, nervously, for Chelsea. We never figured out why Tré was almost about to cry, but I'm pretty sure it was because he was worried about how Chelsea would answer.
After about five minutes of waiting, Sabrina and Chelsea came out of the living room. Sabrina looked like she didn't have a stick up her ass anymore, but instead, she had a big smile. Chelsea sat down next to me and gave me a hug. Of course I hugged back and allowed her cry on my shoulder if she needed to, considering she really only hugged me when she needed to cry. This time, however, she didn't cry at all. She pulled away and sat up straight in her chair.
"I'm pretty sure we have the right to ask so, why did you have to come talk to Chelsea?" Adrienne asked.
"Her mother reported abuse but you should know that you are all going to stay together. I can't share the questions or answers, but I can say that there's a very small, microscopic, chance that Chelsea will be put in a group home or get placed with another relative," Sabrina answered.
"Thank you," I said happily.
"If you have any concerns or questions, here's my card," she said, handing Adrienne her card.
Adrienne nodded her head and led her back to the front door. I looked at Chelsea and so did Mike and Tré.
"What'd you tell her?" Mike asked with confusion.
She shrugged her shoulders and got up, walking back to her room upstairs.
What on Earth did Chelsea say to change Sabrina's mood?
A/N: Sup guys! So I'm pretty sure this took me awhile to update and I'm sorry for that!!! I'll reveal what Chelsea said in the trial chapter when it comes around. I hope y'all r liking the story so far! Ilya! XOXO
