The team got out all of their camping gear from the cars and were about to start setting up their tents. They had brought three. Two of them in each tent. Nell and Kensi were sharing a tent, while Deeks and Eric where sharing another, leaving Sam and Callen with the last one.
Kensi and Nell had finished putting their tent together and were now putting their bags inside of it. Sam and Callen weren't that far behind, Sam having done all the hard work. Not that Callen couldn't do it, just that Sam was very bossy when it came to making and building things.
Eric and Deeks, however weren't having such good luck. They had realised half way through, that they were using the wrong poles for the wrong parts of the tent, which made them have to start again. Much to the rest of the teams amusement.
Callen had managed to find some logs, which he set out in a circle around the fire pit, which they could sit on at night. Kensi and Nell were unpacking the rest of the stuff and putting together a shelter, which they would keep the food and drinks under, so they wouldn't get too hot from the sun.
About half and hour later, Eric and Deeks had finished putting together their tent and were jumping around, yelling in victory.
"What do you guys feel like doing now?" Deeks asked. Nell smiled happily, "I'm going to go do some fishing. Anyone want to join me?" Callen nodded enthusiastically. "I'll come. I haven't been fishing in so long. Hang on, you like fishing?" He asked. Nell nodded, causing everyone to look at her with faces of surprise. "What? A girl can't like fishing?" Nell asked, getting her fishing gear and rod. The team laughed. "Of course a girl can like fishing. It's just, you don't really seem like the fishing type. You know what, nevermind. Let's go, shall we?" Callen replied. Nell nodded, letting Callen catch up to her, with his gear in his hands, before starting to walk down to the lake.
It only took them a few minutes to walk there, considering it was practically right next to their decided camping area. They set up their rods, both adding a worm to the hook and casting their lines out. "Wow, Nell. That was amazing. Where did you learn to cast like that?" Callen asked, as he set his rod down on the ground, propping it up with a small stick he had found.
Nell grinned widely. "My dad taught me. Like I said, we used to come here every year. My dad practically main lined fishing. We would all come down here, put our lines out, and always catch at least a fish each, before we went back up to the camp site and cooking it up. You get the best rainbow trouts down here. The Atlantic salmons aren't that bad either."
Callen smiled. "Your dad sounds like a great man." Nell smiled back, in return. "Only the best." Nell sat down next to Callen and let her rod rest on the ground. "So, what about you? Where'd you learn to fish?" She asked, turning to look out to the water.
Callen smiled, "Sam taught me. When we first became partners, we would go on little fishing trips. We would hire a boat and go out in the early morning, and wouldn't return until late that night. That was until he got married to Michelle."
Nell nodded understandingly and picked up her rod, which she realised was tilting slightly. She stood up and lifted the rod up with her, hooking what ever was on the other end of the line. She moved closer to the water and started working the reel, leaving Callen sitting there, smiling at the sight.
Nell had finally pulled in her line and lifted it up, revealing a large rainbow trout. She reached out and grabbed hold of the line, pulling the fish onto the land. She rested her rod down and picked up the fish, as if it didn't even bother her. Because it didn't. She had been doing this for many years. Ever since she was a child. She pulled the hook out of the fishes mouth and placed the fish in a bucket, which was half full of water. She baited up her hook again and cast it back out into the lake.
