Nell nodded, pulling away and wiping away her tears. "I feel really guilty. Not because I blame myself. But because, I feel like this whole week, while I was camping, I've completely pushed every thought of dad out of my head. Like I didn't even care that he was gone. I was happy and having fun, but that's not how the daughter of someone who has just passed away, acts."
"I should have been upset and thinking about dad the whole time, but instead, I wasn't. I was too busy focusing on my relationship with Callen and having fun with the rest of my friends. All for nothing, because now, when I really need Callen, he's not here for me. He won't even reply to my messages and I don't know what I could have done wrong. The last time I saw him, he introduced me to his father. And yeah, that was only two days ago, but I still feel like he's avoiding me or something." Nell finished.
Mark shook his head, "Shortbread, just because you weren't miserable and depressed all week, it doesn't mean that you weren't and aren't missing dad. Dad would have wanted you to be happy and have fun. He wouldn't want you feeling miserable. If Callen can't make the time to support you and care for you, then maybe you shouldn't be together. He doesn't know what he's missing. Don't fill your mind worrying about someone who won't worry about you in return."
"I guess you're right." Nell replied.
"You guess I'm right? I am right!" Mark spoke, causing a small teary giggle to come out of Nell.
"Come on, what do you say I take you home? I can stay with you tonight? We can have a movie night? Like old times?" He suggested.
Nell nodded, "Yeah. Okay. That sounds like a plan. I don't think I can deal with people coming up to me and going on about 'I'm sorry for your loss', I mean, I know that's like, what you're supposed to say at these things, but It doesn't make it any easier. You know?"
"Yeah, I know. I feel the same way. Come on, let's go and say good bye to mom and then we can head off."
"Alright. But hey, where are Zach and Andrew? I haven't seen them all day." Nell asked.
"They have been trying to keep you and Natalie apart. Zach is also not to happy with you, considering you didn't call him back or something. I'm still not one hundred percent about that. But I still think they should have come to see you." Mark replied.
"That's alright. Looks like it's just me and you." Nell stated, as they both stood up and went to look for their mom.
Once they found her, they said good bye to her and a few more of their family members, before heading to their cars. "Looks like I can't take you home after all. I'll meet you there, okay?" Mark spoke.
"Okay. See you soon, Squiggles." Nell replied, getting into her car.
Once Nell drove away, Mark got in his car and followed after her, taking a short cut to her house to beat her there.
Nell got to her house, to see Mark standing at her door, leaning against it. "What took you so long? Did you decide to drive up to the moon on your way, or something?" Mark asked.
Nell laughed, "How in the world did you beat me? I had a good five minutes head start."
"I took a short cut, Shortbread. Well that and, you drive like an old grandma." Mark retorted.
"I do not drive like an old grandma! I simply just like to assure that I'm alive when I get to where I'm going. I'm surprised with the way that you drive, that you haven't had any major car accidents." Nell spoke.
Mark frowned, "I drive amazingly, thank you very much."
Nell opened the door and let them both inside, walking to the fridge and getting out two beers, handing one to her brother and taking a gulp out of the other.
