(Joey's POV)
"Shane?! Are you there?! SHANE?" I scream into my cell phone. I don't hear any sign of a response from Shane. I sit there on the other line for 5 minutes waiting for Shane to suddenly tell me he's okay. But that never happens. I disconnect the call and run to my car. I am going to Shane's house. On my way I try to calm myself down. Maybe the reception was bad I tell myself even though I know that that is not what had happened. I speed down the road until I reach Shane's mom's house. I sprint to the door and knock. No one answers so I go ahead and open the door, which was left unlocked. I enter the house. "Shane?! Shane?! Are you there?" I call. I walk over to the living room and see Shane on the floor passed out. Oh my gosh, what do I do?, I wonder as I bend down to Shane's unconscious body on the floor. "Shane? Shane? Can you hear me?" I whisper. As expected Shane doesn't answer. I lift Shane onto the couch and sit beside him stroking his hair. Should I call 911 or should I wait for him to wake? He's still breathing fine... I decide to wait an hour, then call 911. I stare at Shane's limp body. I need him to wake up. I will be heartbroken if something happens to him, then again...now I know how he's feeling today. I cannot help myself from leaning over and kissing lightly Shane on the cheek. "I love you" I whisper, knowing he won't ever know.
About half an hour later, Shane starts to rustle. I don't notice at first, but then I see his feet move a tiny bit. I feel my heart jump a little bit at his first signs of movement, and I have more hope that he will be fine. Shane rolls over on his side and I slide off the couch to sit on my knees to face him when him as soon as his eyes open. I see his nose sniffle, and he slides his hands under his head to act as a pillow. "Shane? Are you awake?"
(Shane's POV)
The last thing I remember is Joey's voice and now I'm surfing to consciousness with it. I open my eyes a peep and see Joey's big green eyes staring back at my with concern. "Thank goodness you're awake!" said Joey leaning forward to give me a hug.
"How long was I out?" I ask weakly
"Not that long, 45 minutes maybe."
"Oh." I don't know what to say next.
"What happened Shane?"
"I just...blacked out. Stress I guess..." I trail off. "I was just too overwhelmed to handle it all." I don't tell Joey that I also might've fainted because I havn't eaten all day.
"Do you wanna talk about it?"
"No." But that was a lie. I really wanted to spill everything I've been feeling to someone. However, I just couldn't tell Joey. He's so perfect that he wouldn't understand my stupid issues. Why would he even care? Joey looked me in the eyes.
"Shane, stop hiding things from me. You can trust me." How can he read me so well? We sit, looking at each other forever. Joey's face is sad, but kind. My eyes water up and tears go down my cheeks. Joey knows that I can't say anything right now. Instead of talking, he hugs me while I cry.
Sobs wrack my body as I empty all the tears that I have collected throughout the day. All the while, Joey holds me and rubs my back to comfort me. When I have cried out all my tears, Joey finds a blanket for me and spreads it over my frail body. The sun is setting and I am very very tired. Crying is hard work. Joey sits by me until I am on the verge of sleep. Just before I drift off into dream land, I see Joey's silhouette coming towards me and I feel his soft lips on mine. When he pulls away I taste pomegranate, then fall into a deep sleep that contains confusing dreams.
