(Shane's POV)
"Shane why did you say that?" My mom gasps. Now for actor Shane.
"Mom, I don't know. I felt bad as soon as I said it. I guess I just didn't want you to know what was wrong with me. I'm sorry"
"Shane, it's okay. I understand, but you need to apologize to Joey. He really is a good friend."
"I know Mom." Perfect.
(Joey's POV)
I go to take Mrs. Yaw's car but then remember that she wont be able to get home if I do. So I begin walking. I keep replaying things that Shane said in my head. He wasn't even yelling and he scared me. I find my ear buds in my pocket, plug them to my phone, and flip on some music.
While waking I come across a bar. Maybe I can distract myself from reality with a few drinks.
(Shane's POV)
My mom has left. She gave me the biggest hug I've ever received before leaving. Now I sit here alone in my hospital bed, hooked up to an IV cord. I have become a shell of my former self. I don't even have funny thoughts anymore. I run my hands through my hair.
I hear the door creak and look up to see Lisa slipping through it. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God.
"Hi Shane. How are you." she says. Lisa looks stunning, as always. Her coral sundress makes her look like she's glowing. My chest feels heavy and there is a lump in my throat. I swallow.
"Fine. How's your boyfriend?" That was a dumb thing to say.
"I don't have a boyfriend. Josh decided to leave after you punched him."
"Oh."
"Shane I've been thinking...maybe we could still get back together."
(Joey's POV)
I stagger out of the bar. The world is fuzzy and spinning and my head pounds. I can't walk home, better call my friend Luke. I like Luke, he's real nice. He's too skinny though. He needs some meat on his bones! Focus Joey, call Luke.
Luke takes 6 rings to pick up the phone then "Hey Joey! What's up?"
"P-p-pick meeeeehhh urp pease..."
"Woah Joey, you're gonna have to repeat that again. Didn't understand a word."
"Cccccan you pick meh urp?"
"Um...okay. Where are you?"
"That bar."
"Wow, that's specific. Which bar?"
"Jack's."
"Okay be right there. Don't go anywhere, you drunk you!"
"Okay Mr.Bones Goodbye!" Man I'm drunk.
(Shane's POV)
"Lisa, I don't know. I just got over you" I lie. "It was really hard for me and I don't know if I wanna risk it."
"That's okay Shane. I understand that you's rather be with Joey."
"WHAT?! What makes you think that? Lisa stop antagonizing me. I don't need this; I've got enough on my plate."
"Okay Shane. If that's what you want I'll leave. I'm sorry for messing with you."
I think she actually sorry until she leans down, kisses me, then quickly exits from the room.
That's enough to mess me up all over again.
(Joey's POV)
I sit down on the curb waiting for Luke. Why was I waiting for Luke? Oh yeah I wanted to go home. Why? Oh yeah cause I ran away from Shane at the hospital Why did I run away? Oh...
I'd been playing this cause and effect game in my head for a when Luke drives up and yells for me to get in his car. I grasp the passenger door and plunk into the seat. "Um, Joey. You might wanna close the door." Luke reminds me.
"Oh yeah! Thanks mmmmmrr. Booonnes!" I slur
"Why are you calling me that?"
"Cuz you look anorexic man! I mean look at you!" My mind practically scans through everything I know about anorexia and I recite it off to Luke for no apparent reason. "I know someone who's anorexic...he's scary. He yelled at me today."
"Who Joey?"
"Whaddya mean who? You know!"
Luke sighs. "No Joey I don't know."
"But everyone knows the Big D!"
"WHAT?!" Luke yells laughing.
"Ya know, the big Dawson! Well actually he's quite skinny but-"
"Wait wait wait, Shane is anorexic?" All of a sudden my sober mind kicks in for a moment and I know that I can't take back what I just said.
