Chapter 3

A number of things happened this week. The results came back positive. That's right, Simon and I are siblings. When we, meaning I, told the others, they were shocked, but happy, I guess. Then we find out school is in a couple of weeks, so Dr. Reeves gave us each two hundred dollars to spend on school stuff, including clothes. Two hundred dollars! That's more money than I've seen in my whole entire life. The others didn't make a big deal out of it though. It was as if they've always been given two hundred dollars for school. I shrugged at the thought. We went to the same clothing store that Sarah and Allie took me to before and looked around. They had some backpacks in there. I got a black one and bought a bunch of buttons that had random sayings and band names on them. Then I bought myself four more outfits and saved the rest of the money, for if I want to buy something for myself later. Oh, and I also bought some bracelets and some charms to go on my charm bracelet. Satisfied with what I had, I went and paid for it. We got notebooks and stuff too, which were really cheap. I shrugged at the thought. Once everyone got what they wanted, we went back to the orphanage. We went to our rooms and put things away. The rest of the day went by quickly. The twins, being the loudest they can be, made a lot of noise as usual. Allie and Sarah spent most of the day comparing outfits and what not. Simon and I spent some time together. I asked him what our parents use to look like or still look like. I didn't mean to make him uncomfortable, but I really wanted to know who they were and what they looked like. I apologized to him after he told me. I noticed how much I hated to see him in discomfort. He was five months younger than me. He told me about himself and in return I told him about myself, with a little difficulty, because I don't usually like to talk about myself. After we had dinner, we all went to bed. Simon and I, awkwardly, hugged each other good night. I told him how I've never been hugged before in my life before I came here. He seemed shocked about that; though I really don't understand why. When I told him that, he'd said that it was because I looked really pretty. I was shocked to hear that, because no one has ever told me that before. We ended up laughing, because we shocked each other so much.

Allie's P.O.V.

I got up the next day and like I did every day, went to go see if Cassie was up. I'm so glad that she and Simon are siblings. They just both seemed so lonely. Simon always seemed lonely when he was put in here. It was horrible the first day. He locked himself in his room all day. I stared at his door sadly as I went to go knock on Cassie's. And Cassie, she just looked miserable the first few days she was here; especially when we went shopping with her the first time. I'm just glad that they have each other now. I smiled and knocked. Cassie answered the door, looking tired, like she did every morning. She was in her pajamas. "Are you going to come and make sure I'm up every day?"

"Yup!" I said, happily. She groaned. I laughed and she shut the door. I calmed down and smiled. She doesn't open up to others very easily. It's like there's a wall between her and everyone else. I sighed inwardly. I wish I knew what she was thinking, but I won't ask because I know she'll open up to everyone in time. I knocked on Simon's door and he answered. Unlike his sister, he was dressed. "Good morning!" I said, smiling.

"Morning." Then I turned and went to the stairs. Simon followed and together we went down to breakfast. Thirty minutes later, Cassie came down for breakfast. Ms. Olivia wasn't as mad about Cassie being late like before. It seems Ms. Olivia has accepted Cassie being late. Cassie has relaxed a lot since the first day she was here; especially at breakfast. She always seemed so tense and awkward looking. I bet she felt awkward too. I don't blame her. I felt awkward the first time I came here too. I was so shocked that everyone at her old orphanage was murdered. I'm so glad she didn't get killed. Later that day, Sarah and I were in her room just talking and stuff and Jeremy and Brendon were, surprisingly in Jeremy's room, watching TV. I don't know where Cassie and Simon are. They're probably in the library or out in the garden. All I could hear was Sarah talking and Jeremy's TV, nothing else. Then, we suddenly hear some yelling and a scream from downstairs and then it was dead silent. Sarah and I got up and ran out the bedroom door. We saw Jeremy and Brendon running to the stairs and followed them. Once downstairs, we saw the door standing wide open, and drops of blood. We called for Dr. Reeves and he went to investigate it. He told us to look for Simon and Cassie. So we did and they didn't turn up. We looked in the library, the garden, their rooms, the kitchen, everywhere! And we couldn't find them. Then Dr. Reeves called the police and filed two missing person reports. As he described what Simon and Cassie looked like into the phone, I was really freaking out. Sarah was too. We sat down on the couch and Sarah bursted out into tears. I comforted her, trying to keep myself calm. Jeremy and Brendon tried to comfort both of us. They never really talked to Simon or Cassie much, but they were like siblings to them, so they were worried about them. I just hope that their okay.
