Chapter 8

When I woke up, I felt something heavy next to me on the bed. Their arms were wrapped around me. I was turned away from whoever it was. When I turned towards the person, I saw that it was Jacob. He was sound asleep. Smiling, I gently lifted his arms off of me and, trying not to move the bed too much, I got up and went to the bathroom. Looking in the mirror, I noticed I was still in my clothes from yesterday. Man, I must have been tired. Going into my room and getting clothes, I decided to take a shower. After my shower and getting dressed, I brushed and straightened my hair. Then after putting on some mascara, eyeliner, and some lip gloss, I went into my room and put on some socks. Jacob was still on the bed, sleeping.

So I went over to him and, not really wanting to disturb him in his sleep, woke him up. "Morning." He muttered, sitting up. I rolled my eyes and sat down next to him on the bed.

"How long was I asleep?"

"How should I know? I didn't know you were there until I woke up."

"Oh yeah. Stupid question." He said, grinning. I chuckled and got up. "How's your wrist?" Oh yeah.

"It hasn't been hurting so far, but it couldn't hurt to get it checked out." He nods and gets up too. I went back into the bathroom and brushed my teeth.

"I'm starving." Jacob said as we walked to the top of the stairs.

"You know what? I am too." I said, grinning.

"Good, then we can both go down and get something to eat." He said, grinning too. We linked our arms like little kids and walked down the stairs. Once in the kitchen, Allie and Sarah came up to both of us and hugged us.

"You two seemed kind of down yesterday." Allie explained when we gave her confused looks.

"Ah. We're fine." I said, sitting at the table. Jacob sat next to me.

"But we're more hungry than anything." Jacob said grinning. Allie smiled, as Sarah, Jeremy, and Brendon laughed.

"Hey, where's Simon?" I asked, finally noticing that Simon wasn't at the table.

"I think he's still up in his room." Allie said thoughtfully.

"I'll go get him." She nods as I stood up. Curiously, I went up the stairs and to Simon's room. I knocked.

"Come in." Simon's voice said. He sounded like he was sick. I opened the door and found him lying on the bed. I walked up to him, looking worried.

"Are you okay?"

"I think I'm running a fever." He said in his usual quiet voice. I sat down on the bed and put my hand on his forehead.

"I think you're right. You're burning up."

"Cassie?" He asked after awhile.

"Yes?"

"Do you like Jacob?"

"Of course I do, he's my friend." He shook his head.

"No, I mean really like him." I was shocked to say the least.

"Why?"

"You spend a lot of time with him." My stomach was in knots. I felt bad now. Does he think I don't love him anymore? He's my brother, why wouldn't I love him? I hugged him.

"I'm sorry. You feel like I don't care about you anymore, don't you?" He hugged me back.

"Sometimes."

"I'm sorry." I apologized again. "I love you very much, I do."

"I know. I can't help it sometimes."
