Chapter Fifteen
Sadie’s P.O.V.
Lucy burst into tears. I could tell she had been holding them in. Trying to be strong, but sometimes you just gotta let it out. “T-t-they k-k-kicked me o-o-out” she wheezed out.
“It’s okay honey just breath” I soothed.
She kept crying. I knew there wasn’t much more to it. Her parents kicked her out because their perfect little princess made a mistake. It enraged me so much. Then I saw the door begin to open. It was Dally. Lucy looked up then her expression changed to mortified. She grabbed a pillow and chucked it at the door “No get out!” She screeched.
He shut the door and yelled “Lucy are you okay? You can talk to me.”
“Just go away I don’t want you to see me like this” She yelled back.
“Lucy c’mon”
“Dal just go” I told him.
I heard him sigh then he gave in and left. I know he was worried but she really wasn’t in the mood for a concerned boyfriend right now. I know he means well. Lucy’s body was shaking but she had stopped crying. Now she was asleep. I got up and tucked her into bed. I moved the hair from her face then went down stairs.
Soda, Darry, Ponyboy and Dally were sitting in the living room. I sat down on the arm of the couch next to Soda. “Are you dumb?” I asked Dally.
“Huh?” He looked confused.
“When a girl throws a pillow at your head and say leave me alone you listen! You don’t continue to ask her what’s wrong!”
“Hey listen, she’s my girlfriend-” He tried.
I cut him off “No you listen. If she doesn’t want you around while she is crying her eyes out then you should just leave her be!”
He attempted to argue but Soda cut in “Hey man don’t even try you won’t win.”
I smirked and Dally sighed in defeat “Whatever I gotta go. I’ll see you guys tomorrow.”
He walked out Soda wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me off the arm of the couch and into his lap. Catching me by surprise I fell easily onto him. “Gotchya”
I laughed “you didn’t have to try very hard”
“Nope” Then he kissed me.
“You guys are so gross” Pony said from across the room.
“Gross how?” I asked him.
“You’re always so lovey dovey” he explained.
“Sorry Pone I just can’t help it your brother is just so-”
“Stop right there! I don’t want to know!” He said putting his hands up.
I laughed again “I was just gonna say sweet.”
“Ya right” He scoffed.
Darry just looked at us and smiled “What?” Soda asked him.
“Oh nothing I just haven’t seen two people so in love since well mom and dad” I didn’t know what to say to that.
“Is it really that obvious?” Soda questioned.
“Are you kidding? Yes it is obvious.” He answered.
I looked into Soda’s eyes. He looked into mine. “You know I’m just gonna go to bed.” Pony said getting up.
“Goodnight cutie” I said with a smile.
He laughed at that. “I better go to bed too. Goodnight babe, love you” I said getting up.
“Hang on a second.” Soda said stopping me.
“Wha-” He kissed me in the middle of the word.
“You forgot my goodnight kiss.” He said.
I laughed went up to bed. Lucy was still how I left her, sound asleep. I went and got into bed next to her and slowly drifted off to sleep.
Lucy’s P.O.V.
I woke up expecting to be blinded by sunlight but when I opened my eyes it was still dark. What time is it? I looked over and saw Sadie sleeping soundly next to me. I felt my stomach flip and smacked Sadie’s leg then got up and ran to the bathroom. I heard Sadie come running after me. I reached the bathroom just in time. I got down on my knee and threw up into the toilet. Sadie came running in behind me and held my hair back.
I was gasping for breath. I finished and wiped my mouth. I was sweating a little bit and my mouth tasted awful! We went to the kitchen and she got me something to drink to get the taste out of my mouth.
“Hey you okay to go back to bed or do you want to stay up?” Sadie asked me.
“Ya we can go back to bed” She still looked tired and I knew if I stayed up so would she. We went up to bed. We both fell back asleep.
*** The Next Day ***
I woke up this time being blinded by the sunlight and looked over to find Sadie missing. I got up and walked down stairs. She was in the kitchen cooking breakfast.
“Hey whatchya makin?” I asked her.
She turned around and said “Same as yesterday”
I nodded my head then went into the living room “Hey Ponyboy”
“Oh hey Lucy” He said. “Do you wanna watch Mickey?”
“Sure” I answered with a smile. I sat on the couch next to him.
“Hey guys breakfast is ready” Darry came in and said a little bit later.
We got up and went into the kitchen I loaded my plate and started eating. So did everyone else. I watched as Sodapop’s gaze kept moving back to Sadie. I wonder if Dally ever looks at me when I’m not paying attention like that.
“Hey Sadie did I hear you guys get up late last night?” Darry asked.
“Ya um Lucy got sick last night.” She said looking down.
“Why didn’t you wake someone up?” He asked.
“Because it all happened so fast. One minute I was sleeping the next I was in the bathroom holding Lucy’s hair back.” She explained.
“Well next time wake one of us up preferably me ‘cause these two knuckle heads wouldn’t have clue what to do” Darry told us.
“I handled it just fine Darry” Sadie said sternly.
“I believe you did” He replied. It was silent for the rest of breakfast.
After Sadie and I did the dishes. “Hey are you feeling okay?” She asked me.
“Ya I’m fine why?”
“I don’t know you seemed like you were feeling pretty bad last night” She explained.
“Oh well I feel fine now.” I reassured her.
She smiled and nodded. We finished the dishes and went to sit with Ponyboy. Soda and Darry left for work already. Then Dally burst in.
“Hey is Darry still here or did he go to work already?” He asked.
“He went to work already” Sadie informed him.
“Damn it! Do you think it would be okay with him if Lucy stayed here for a little bit longer?” He asked.
“It should be fine. You know Darry.” Ponyboy answered.
“Okay thanks.” He said. What was he thinking?
