Sadie’s P.O.V.

Lately Lucy has been very moody. Yesterday around lunch time her and Dally were hanging out in the living room while I was making sandwiches. It sounded quite peaceful for a while then I heard Lucy start screaming at Dally about something. He argued back a little bit but knew she would calm down any second. She always does. Then as we all knew she would; she stopped screaming. But this time she something out of the ordinary. She began to bawl.

I walked into the living room to see what all the commotion was about when I found Lucy crumpled in Dally’s arms sobbing.

“Nothing fits!”

“I’m so fat!”

“Nothing is going right!” She cried.

Dally tried comforting her by saying things like “Babe you’re not fat, you’re pregnant” This infuriated her.

She looked at him and yelled “AND WHO’S FAULT IS THAT?”

Then she buried her face in his chest and once again continued to cry. I felt so bad for her. For a while we tried to calm her down. Everyone tried. And when I say everyone I mean EVERYONE! Dally tried then Pony and after him Johnny. None of them had much luck. Two-bit was next and let’s face it. Even thought Two-bit can make Lucy laugh any time, any where she wasn’t budging.

Sodapop and Steve came home soon after and tried as well. No one had any luck. I tried many time to talk to her but I was having a mind malfunction yesterday and couldn’t come up with any good idea’s to make her feel better.

She had stopped crying until Darry came home and asked how everyone’s day was. That set her off again. She burst into and began to criticize herself again. Just as everyone else had, Darry tried to calm her down. And just like everyone else he was unsuccessful.

That was when the light bulb went off in my head and I got a great idea. I would suggest to her we go shopping for clothes that would fit her. Sure she may not be pleased with the fact that she had to wear maternity clothes but it beats wearing Dally’s old t-shirts, because her clothes wouldn’t fit her.

After dinner I asked Lucy to come up to my room. I know when but it became my room. Everyone called it my room. We not my room, they called it Sadie’s room. And I liked it.

When we got in there I told her my idea. As I suspected she wasn’t too pleased but agreed all the same. We went back downstairs and Dally did what Dally does best. He commented on Lucy’s sudden good well not good but better mood, putting her back into a bad one. They argued the rest of the night.

That brings us to today. Lucy is now in her fifth month of pregnancy and she is like I mentioned before not fitting into her clothes. Once the baby is born and she loses the extra weight she will fit into them again, but for now she needed some new clothes.

We walked into one of the only stores in town that sells maternity clothes. We began browsing different racks. Then I heard a moan of disgust.

I looked over at Lucy and she was holding a frilly pink flowery shirt. And to top it all off the sleeves were puffy too! Lucy hated this I could tell.

“Are you freaking kidding me?” She asked “This is what I have to wear for the next four months?”

“Awe come on they aren’t that bad and you don’t have to get that shirt if you don’t like it.” I told her.

“Well then I ain’t gettin it cause I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing it” She said in a huff.

I laughed and kept browsing. Then I came across and average white t-shirt. It looked about her size and wasn’t a bad price either. I held it up and showed her.
