Lucy's P.O.V.
Sadie ran and fell beside me. "Oh my god! He stabbed you! That blade was meant for me. I am so sorry Lucy!" I could here her crying as she moved the hair out of my face. Dally came and dropped down beside me and was holding my hand. Was he crying too? Dallas Winston. The toughest of the tough was crying?
Darry came up beside me and placed his hand on the blade. "Alright this might hurt a little bit"
"Stay awake babe, just stay awake. I need you!" Darry began pulling out the blade. The pain was unbearable. Sharp pains were sent through my entire body.
"Sodapop go find a payphone and call 911" He nodded his head and ran off.
"Your gonna be okay. It's okay" Sadie rambled. Every inch of my body was numb and all I felt was the pain coming from my stomach. It was awful.
"C'mon baby stay with me" Dally said squeezing my hand even tighter. I could feel Sadie's tears dropping on my skin. They felt cold because I was so hot. Steve just stood there looking completely and utterly shocked, worried, scared. It was terrible. Darry sent Two-bit to go fill in Ponyboy and Johnny on what had happened.
I heard the wail of sirens in the background. I squeezed Dally's hand one last time "Come on Lucy don't die," I could tell now he was crying then he said something I never would have expected "I love you Lucy"
I squeezed Dally's hand one last time and wheezed out "I love you too Dallas" Then blacked out.
Sadie's P.O.V.
Oh my god what just happened! I knew this was bad idea! Nobody listens to me! The smell of blood lingered in the air around us. As they loaded Lucy into the back of the ambulance I began crying even more.
Sodapop noticed and came up. He wrapped he arms around me from behind and whispered "don't worry she's gonna be alright"
"I sure hope so." I said with a hiccup. We all ran back to the house to get Darry's truck. We got in and drove to the hospital. Dally went with Lucy. Pony and Johnny were already there with Two-bit.
We got to the hospital and found Dally in the waiting room. He looked really nervous. Ponyboy, Johnny and Two-bit were there too. We went and sat with them. Dally filled us in on what was happening. She was in intensive care and the doctor wasn't saying much. All we knew was that she wasn't awake yet. That scared me.
It was then that Soda freaked out. "Why did you come tonight?"
"I came because I wanted to prove to you that I wasn't just some prissy girl." Was my answer. Yes I realize it was pretty snarky but it was the truth.
He stood up and stormed outside. I followed him "What's your problem?" I asked him.
"WHAT IF IT HAD BEEN YOU TO GET STABBED?" He screamed.
"WHAT IF IT WAS YOU?" IF WE WEREN'T THERE IT COULD HAVE BEEN YOU!" I screamed right back.
"SADIE DON'T TURN THIS AROUND ON ME!" Was he serious.
"WHY ARE YOU ACTING LIKE THIS? OUR FRIEND IS IN THERE WITH A HUGE GASH IN HER STOMACH! SHE COULD DIE AND YOUR BIGGEST CONCERN IS WHY I SNUCK INTO THE RUMBLE?" He was making me so angry. I can't believe he was making such a scene.
He calmed down a little bit and instead of screaming in my face said "I know and that's why I didn't want you to be in the rumble. Things happen and I didn't want you or Lucy to get hurt."
"I know baby but you can't protect me from everything. I'm a big girl and know how to handle myself." I told him.
"You are one helluva girl Sadie." He said and gave me a hug.
I kissed him and said "your one helluva boyfriend Sodapop" Then we walked back into the hospital. We sat and waited for what felt like days but it was only a few hours.
Then the doctor came out and said "are you the family of Lucy Davids?"
Dally stood up and replied "Yes I'm her boyfriend"
"Okay well I have good news and bad news" The doctor informed "which one you want first?"
"Umm...bad news" Dally told him.
"Lucy will live," he paused "but she will have to stay in the hospital for at least a week"
"And the good news?" Dallas asked eagerly.
"I don't know if you would consider this good or bad news but she is pregnant." He explained. Every ones jaw dropped. Dally's eyes were almost popping out of his head. He couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"Can we go see her? Does she know she's pregnant?" Dally was asking multiple questions.
"Yes and yes but only two people can go in at a time." The doctor informed then walked away.
"Who wants to come with me?" Dally asked.
"Sadie you go." Soda said nudging me forward. I nodded my head and we walked into her room. She had a bandage wrapped around her stomach. When she heard us come in she stirred.
"Oh my god Lucy your okay!" Dally said rushing up to her.
"I'm fine babe." Lucy said with a faint smile. I was just standing there awkwardly.
"I love you so much don't ever scare me like that again!" Dally admitted hugging her.
Her face lit up as much as it in her situation and she said "I love you too Dallas"
