What's this?  Another update?  What?!?  Enjoy! <3 XDee

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Eddie slammed his fists against the table.  Four days.  It’s been four days and so far, all they’ve managed to find out was that a man and woman were in league with each other, kidnapping girls with a similar physique and with a basic knowledge of defensive skills.  They had never taken this long without getting at least a little more information.  There was one case they never solved, because the suspect managed to disappear somewhere in Africa.  The authorities there were more than cooperative, but the man still vanished from sight.

At least they had a suspect, though.  Now, they’re still completely and utterly lost.  Helena Moore was beginning to question whether or not she should send another team out.  That perhaps they were beginning to lose their touch, that without Heath they couldn’t perform as well.

“They found her,” Parker growled.  The folder slapped against the table, already filled with gruesome crime scene photos.  They found her.  The little one.  Nothing left to show for the beauty she once was.

“Disgusting.  That’s what these people are.  Who could do that to an innocent girl?”

Simone came barreling down the hallway, a frighteningly happy look on her face.  “They found the other one!”

“Why are you happy about that?” Parker asked.

Eddie agreed.  “If it’s anything like the other ones…”

“No!  She’s alive!”

“Alive?!”

“Where are they keeping her?”

“She’s at the hospital.  Mitch and Victoria are already there with Valerie!  We’re meeting them there, but we’ve got to hurry!”

“I’ll grab Vaughn!”

“Look at her, Val.  She’s just staring.  Like they killed the part of her that was once an innocent human being,” Victoria whispered.  They were watching the nurses finish up writing down her vitals.  Once they were done, they would allow the agents inside for questioning.

Her female partner nodded in sympathy.  Things never got easier.  Ever.  As often as they told themselves or each other that they would, things never actually did.

“Vaughn and the rest are on their way,” Mitch announced, sliding his phone into his back pocket.  He crossed his arms as they waited a few more minutes patiently to pass.  Finally, the nurses walked out and left the door open for them.

“Who wants to go first?” Valerie whispered.

Victoria sighed and stepped into the room.  Machines beeped and clicked; the only signs that this poor girl in front of them was alive.  Mitch quickly pulled up two chairs, but both of his female counterparts shook their heads.  They would rather get this over with quickly.

“Erm, he-hem.  Hi, Mellany, I believe it is?  My name’s Victoria, and these are my partners Mitch and Valerie.  We’re with the FBI.  Mind if we ask you a few questions?”

A soft, barely audible “no” came their way.

“Okay, good, that’s good.  I’m going to start out with what happened the night you were kidnapped.  Do you remember what happened?”

She nodded.  It took her a minute, but she managed a deep breath before going into her story.  “I was babysitting, like usual.  There was a knock at the door, and the little girl I was babysitting went to answer it.  I tried stopping her, but she beat me there and a man had her by the arm.  He was shocked to see me.  A woman appeared behind him and pointed a gun at me, telling me to keep quiet, grab the girl and get in the car out front.  I did as I was told.  We drove for what felt like hours.  It was the middle of downtown.”
